NFL scouts still hoping Mariota declares

A degree and an education is one of the few things in life that NOBODY can ever take from you. It can't be lost to investment, stolen, or otherwise misplaced. You can't say that for many things in life.

Maybe he is deeper than many of you give him credit for.

So him going to the NFL means he can never get a college degree? Because many players have done exactly this.

I don't know. You would have to ask him. I never insinuated that.

What I did say is that maybe his degree is more important than going to the NFL right now, and if that's his choice, who are we to question it.

What lies behind us, and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.

Well this is a message board and this is a pretty public decision. So questioning it seems like a pretty natural thing to do.

And from what I have heard his decision has more to do with liking the town and being on the west coast closer to Hawaii than getting a college degree.

I know people with degrees looking for work.

Well, if that's the case, fire away.

With his MCL hurting he may change his mind and go before it gets worse. I like that idea of him staying in hopes of a championship. May not be the reason, but it is awesome seeing kids loyal to college. Plus, he may enjoy the stardom at Oregon and the wonderment that is the college experience

Better candidate than Bridgewater.  It's why teams in need are hoping he'll change his mind.

No. Teams are hoping he'll change his mind because the drop off after Bridgewater is significant and the Texans out sucked everyone.

Really, why is he a better candidate?

There is no drop off among the top handful of QBs in this draft.  All have question marks, there is no sure fire franchise QB candidate.  You've got scouts talking about Teddy carrying a second round grade.  This is just like last season, where all the smoke was blowing in camp Geno.  In the end, he wasn't the first off the board and didn't even go in the first.

Texans will regret taking a QB first overall if that's their choice.

Getting millions of dollars affords you to go back and finish the degree whenever you like.

It's called an opinion, sunshine.  Do you see a crystal ball sitting on the table in front of me?  Never have, never will pretend I do.

Mariota is not a better candidate than Bridgewater.....I would be thrilled if the Texans took him instead of Teddy. That would be good news for the Jags.

If it is true the Texans wanted Mariota before he decided to stay in school, I would expect them to pick him and let us have Bridgewater.
