He would be nothing more than a stop gap.

Upside is Linder could move back to guard, though he was pretty solid at center.

If we signed him, I'd draft Pocic to groom behind him.

If it's not broke, don't fix it. I like Mangold but there is no reason to pay a more expensive center when we have a good one on his rookie contract.

Mangold definitely has a couple years left in him. This would allow linder to go back to guard. Our line would be very solid even if we didn't do anything else.

I'm all for it.

Give prince a short deal

Also sign JPP

Draft Adams in round 1

Those moves alone would be heavy upgrades.
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

While I'm actually inclined to agree with this, Linder was phenomenal at G. We could theoretically sign Mangold, draft a C, and move Linder back (as others suggested)

This would be cheaper than throwing the bank at someone like Zeitler to fix the G spot

we are already (reportedly) getting an old injury prone OL I'd rather not have another one

If we sign Mangold, we don't need to draft a center.

You would 100% need to draft a center to groom behind him since he is 33 years old and has maybe 2 years left in him.

Not with Brandon Linder on the roster.

It goes back to my point about not wanting to sign a 33-year old UFA.

we dont want to keep moving Linder back and forth. get a center and let Linder play guard or keep him at center...

That is another reason not to sign Mangold. Keep Linder at center, duh.

He's been trash the last two years and we have a borderline elite center in Linder

I repeatedly insisted there is no reason to move Linder even once. Keep him at center as long as he is a Jaguar. You are the one who talked about moving him for the purpose of signing a 33-year old center.

If you want a successful run game you need a quality guy at Center.  I think our pour rushing offense was a product of weak blocking at the Center position.  Linder is much better suited to play Right Guard.  I like the move to sign Mangold for the next 2-3 years.  I wanted us to draft him to replace Meester back in 2006 instead of taking Marcedes Lewis.  Big mistake.  I like the idea of drafting a center in the 3rd or 4th Rd.  Eiflein or Pocic.

You seem to be alone. Most board members love Brandon Linder at center.

We also loved him at Guard, where he was phenomenal.
