Trump address to Congress

Quote:School Choice: Are Feds going to be doling out money so rich folks can get a discount on sending their kids to private school? Pretty sure if it's not the civil rights issue of our time. I am not rich and both of my kids go to private school. I am not asking for a "discount", but a tax deduction would be a good start. I make sacrafices in my life to give my kids the best education possible and it is a shame about the picture you have painted for yourself about private schools. Quote:School Choice: Are Feds going to be doling out money so rich folks can get a discount on sending their kids to private school? Pretty sure if it's not the civil rights issue of our time. Ellison and his goon didn't even stand for the 3 minute ovation for the fallen Navy SEALs widow!! Quote:Government mandated paternity leave Calm down buddy. The run up to the speech was the left melting down over the fact that he wants to cut the state departments budget. He has already said that he is going to leave hundreds, if not thousands of government Jobs unfilled. Every Cabinet Secretary that he has appointed has the mandate to cut the departments down to size. He has already said that he is cutting EPA funding. He has already said that we could be looking at a 50-75% reduction in the regulatory state. This is going to be a major win for the libertarian wing of the party. As for paid family leave... I don't like it. That being said, we need 65 million votes in 2020. It is what it is. As for Medicaid Flexibility... We need 30ish governors to make sure that the left doesn't steal the elections. we need 65 million votes in 2020. It is what it is. As for taxes, I hate the idea of a Border Adjustment tax (tariff just sounds all protectionisty doesn't it?) but I think that within the context of broader foreign policy and the example of Harley Davidson, that the premise isn't going to be that a lot of countries will actually be subject to it. It will provide natural incentive for countries to enter into Bilateral Free Trade agreements to make sure that the conditions of trade between countries is reciprocal. As he pointed out, if you have no tariffs Border Adjustment tax on Imports but our exports are subject to massive Tariff Walls then that creates a statutory Trade deficit, as he pointed out nearly 800 billion dollars. Personally, just lower the corporate tax rate and that will take care of itself but 65 million votes in 2020. It is what it is. Quote:Calm down buddy. I am guessing you may not be rich, but your also not raising your kids in inner city Duval as a single parent possibly working two jobs. With kids who require free and reduces lunches? How does his plan help that family?
Quote:I am guessing you may not be rich. Has his plan been formally laid out? I understand sending my kids to private school is my choice and not a necessity and all I am asking for is part or all of it to be tax deductible. I don't think that is unreasonable. Also, even though you likely won't see Coolio roaming the halls, DCPS are not very good, which is why everyone seems to be fleeing for St. Johns County. Quote:Trump 2020 Campaign Slogan : It is what it is. Gotta admit that was funny

Shhhhhhhhhh you'll scare the children Quote:Has his plan been formally laid out? So taking money away from schools that are already poor is a good idea? How does that help? Not in Duval so I am unfamiliar. I am told they have very good magnet schools? No? Quote:Trump 2020 Campaign Slogan : It is what it is. "new normal"

Quote:So taking money away from schools that are already poor is a good idea? How does that help? A tax deduction is not taking money away from public schools, FYI. I get a tax deduction for donating a box of old toys and clothes to Hospice every year. How is that any different?
You Trump supporters didn't realize you voted for FDR, did you?
Money for everything! Money for everybody! New entitlements! New programs! New task forces! "But Mr President, how are we going to pay for all of it?" "I have no idea, I'm just reading what Steve Bannon wrote. That's Paul Ryan's problem. And if things don't go well I'll just blame him." Happy Days Are Here Again!

The Public school system here sucks. Public education sucks in general in our country for the most part. We're not really teaching our kids anything that will be relevant within the next three to four years after they've graduated or been handicapped into stupidity. Since schools are lowering passing grades in order to make themselves look good. I paid attention in school. But it would get to the point at Sandalwood where you had gym teachers and coaches teaching you math and history at times. And it was so pathetic that often times it felt like you were just being babysat and we were allowed to take open book tests and quizzes. OPEN BOOK. You don't even have to study, retain information or memorize anything half the time. You were guaranteed to at least pass with a "C" average just by showing up on time and not missing easy assignments. All I learned was conditioning during my 12 years of schooling. And the older I got the less interested it seemed the teachers cared to actually teach or educate. I learned more about economics, world history, reading and writing and US history during my late elementary and middle school years than I ever did in high school. I just learned what it was like to get up early every day, and go to an establishment for eight hours a day during my last 4 years of school. The two biggest skills and classes I learned in high school that actually helped me in the real world was key and business class which taught me how to be a good typist and increase my words per minute for corporate type work and how to properly formulate paragraphs and graphs and reports. And then DCT class which just taught you how to properly present yourself to get a job during an interview and how to create a resume. ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie?
