Quote:With many RB options this off-season, I would be surprised if the Vikings would be willing to give up more than a 5th Rounder.

I'd take a 5th rounder and run away before they came to their senses and changed their mind.

I mean Colvin is a solid Nickel, he's never going to be an outside starter and will never get that type of money.

How do we know? We haven't seen him play outside. I'm sure the Texans didn't think Bouye would command this cash. I'm just a strong believer in extending and developing talent rather than paying for one break out year.

maybe the players don't want to extend right now at a discounted rate?

Quote:I agree, Aaron's a real nice player who has not yet hit his peak. He has the ability to be one of the best slot corners in the league

Colvins the most overrated player on the roster

Quote:I would honestly prefer Stephon Gilmore over Bouye.

Bouye just reeks of a guy who only did it for a year. I want to see a bigger sample size before we sign a player to a big contract.

Have you guys seen what Gillmore said about Marrone after he left the team? He isnt coming here.

Quote:maybe the players don't want to extend right now at a discounted rate?
No doubt, but it is also a risk on their behalf as well as for the team.

I agree about Colvin being overrated. I do think he's talented, but he hasn't really done anything overly impressive yet in his career.

He plays the slot well and blitzes effectively from the nickel-back spot also, but I don't trust him to play outside personally.

Quote:lol
strong argument, really good points here.

I like Colvin a lot actually. I thought the defense really took it to the next level when he came back and took house off the field

Im actually fully onboard getting Calais Campbell. Hes a solid defensive end who is an every down 43 type of DE. Is an all pro? No, but hes a good player who will get to the QB and can stop the run. Since we missed out on JPP and Ingram along with Garret must likely going number 1, we are in a bit of a pickle when it comes to pass rushers. Its one of our biggest needs and we really need to get a bit more consistent at the position. The hopes are Fowler and Yannick can both improve and become the players we drafted them to be. But in the short term, a good stop gap wouldnt be a bad idea. We may have to overpay for him, but knowing the Jags, it would be a team friendly deal where we can get out of it after a couple of seasons. Campbell is consistent, durable, reliable, healthy and produces and I believe is on the right side of 30. If we get constant production for atleast 2 seasons, the deal is worth it. Sign me up.

He's good at blitzing and tackling. Not very good in coverage in my opinion

Quote:give me the guy who has 14 INTs in his very short NFL career who was also a standout at South Carolina.

Paired up as the #2 corner behind Ramsey - that would give us two physical corners that can ball.

My money would go to Stephon Gilmore, not Bouye.
6 picks and 32 breakups in 1,540 career snaps for Bouye is a significantly larger percentage than Gilmore's 14 picks and 62 breakups 4,318 snaps.

And I agree Colvin is the most overrated player on this team.

"OMG HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A FIRST ROUNDER IF NOT FOR HIS ACL TEAR" only gets you so far for so long.

Being that the Colts back in the late 1990's only got 2nd and 5th Round picks in return for Marshall Faulk,  the Jaguars would indeed be fortunate to get a 5th Round pick for T.J. Yeldon.  The epic flop of Trent Richardson certainly didn't help the trade value of RBs.
