Don't forget about Jonathan Woodard... a very skilled pass rusher able to rush from anywhere on the DL.  At one point before his injury I was thinking he might be the top backup LDE behind Odrick.

Our pass rush is currently , Malik (very good) , Yannick (Good as rookie, can he continue it? And Fowler( No idea what he develops into)


That's not enough in today's NFL. We need at least two veteran pass rushers IMO, and a Dline addition via the draft would be nice too.

I would like to sign Dwight Freeney or Charles Johnson but them being older vets not sure if they would want to come here.

We've only got 2 pass rushers and fowler is a huge question mark. We need to be able to get after the quarterback in this league and banking on what we have currently would be a ridiculous gamble. Plus coughlin has always been about building a team through the trenches so I would assume that's going to be a major focus of this draft. Yes we need help in the defensive backfield as well as a playmaking rb to take pressure off of bortles but since there isn't a top end tackle worth taking in the top 5, I feel like the pick is going to be someone who can put pressure on the QB. Teams aren't letting EDGE players hit the market anymore with the cap where it is these days. You've got to get them in the draft.


I still like Adams a ton but I feel like Thomas/Allen are the top options at 4.


Side not if we do take Adams at 4, I pray that Charles Harris is there in the second. I like him a lot.

From what I've been hearing he could slide farther than that. The scouts aren't very high on him for some reason. He looked good last year but this year he kinda fell off. We're missing a more traditional 4-3 end. I say that but I still love Derek rivers in the second. I can't wait to see the d-line test at the combine.

I know it dont mean much but he out lifted Myles Garrett.  Gonna keep an eye on him tomorrow

Clearly it is possible to get good players in the later rounds - that is true of any position. But are your chances of picking a good one are lower as you fall into the lower rounds?


I've been having a look for some statistical research and came up with this.

It's a bit old, but it does suggest you are more likely to get a good RB if you draft early.


Of course it might be different this year if there is a deep RB class, but I'd still feel more confident drafting one early rather than hoping to get lucky.

Of course our running game would have been much better with a much better Oline. I agree Ivory+Yeldon ain't anything special and can be fairly easily upgraded, my issue is simply that a running back in the 2nd/3rd/4th is far better value than any at pick #4. When you add in how deep this class is it makes it a no brainer. Lets take a look at the top 20 rushers in the league and where they were taken in the draft

The post I made is simply referring the the value of running backs and why a running back at #4 is not good value.


For instance a WILL linebacker is not a good pick at #4. Why? Its just not good value for the position you are picking for. The draft is all about getting the best talent at the best value you can. Its why drafting kickers and punters before round 5 or 6 is bad, the value just isn't there.

I never put a round on any positon unless its kicker or punter.  If a player is that good at pretty much any posiiton id take him.  Except mayber guard.  Wouldnt take a guard in the top 10

If Thomas is off the board (sadly we can give up on Adams) and we sign a big time CB in FA soon likely taking Lattimore out of contention too, I sure as hell would take a TE at 4.
