Osweiler to the Browns
|
Texans have traded a 2nd round 2018 and Brock Osweiler to the Browns for...nothing!
They thought he was that bad! http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000...rom-texans We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Great move by the Browns, they have a ton of cap room, basically they bought themselves a second round pick and they can cut Osweiler next year with no dead money.
Could be absolutely genius if they manage to trade him agan next year and get another pick in return, but that's too much probably ![]()
I thought I had reached a pinnacle when I got a separation package. To me, it was essentially "we'll pay you not to work here."
But this! This is an org saying "we're willing to pay someone else, just to take you!"
I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.
Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

The sun's not yellow, it's chicken.
Browns are apparently gunna dump Brock if no one is interested. Pretty much traded a fourth to get a second.
Couple thoughts.
1. It's gotta be a bad day to be the Houston GM. This looks TERRIBLE on your resume. Not only did you over pay for garbage, you had to give up a 2nd Rd Pick to get rid of him? Ouch. 2. It's got to feel even WORSE to be Osweiler right now. Not only did your team just give up a 2nd to get rid of you... the team they sent you too basically said don't even bother showing up... is trying to trade you immediately, or simply cut you and eat the cost. Sheesh. 3. Apparently the Browns staff truly is combining Moneyball and Draft Day.. this is just fun to watch.

Someone in the Texans front office has compromising pictures of someone from the Browns front office, that's for sure. This deal unloads a ton of cap space for Houston, and they lose their 2nd rounder in the process just to get rid of a bad penny that Cleveland will more than likely cut when the dust settles. They've got so much cap room ($100+ million) that they won't even notice.
Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
Browns clearly are killing the game today. Made their O line as good as the Cowboys and got a 2nd round pick in the process for taking a overrated bust QB in Osweiler off the Texans books.
Props to them. I called Osweiler being overrated when the Texans paid him. Elway would of never of let him walk if he thought he was a franchise QB. Texans are a good team that cant their QB situation under control. Now ill throw cash at Romo and pray he stays healthy.
Brock is in shock!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What team out there is going to pick up BO once he gets released? Will he have to wait until a QB gets hurt or will some team pick him up to have him in camp? At least the texans didn't wait until another bad year from him before getting rid of him. When was the last time a division winning QB was traded away the very next season after winning the division and winning a playoff game?
I survived the Gus Bradley Error.

No Fun
Would've been nice if our gm had the balls to do the same after suffering through Bottles, Gabbert, and Leftwich for 3 years a piece. Or was it 4 for Lefty? Either way, good move for the browns. The texans on the other hand....well let's just say I'm gonna enjoy reading about that trade for a while.
Quote:Elway still offered him almost just as much didnt they.yeah he offered him like 2 mill less than the texans i think.
The Browns essentially paid $16M for a second round pick in 2018. That sounds like a high price.

I'm still lol'ing at the Texans giving the Browns a second-round pick to make Osweiler go away.
A-plus GM work there, Houston.
Quote:I'm still lol'ing at the Texans giving the Browns a second-round pick to make Osweiler go away. Smth is bulletproof, but the sad thing is, at the end of the day, the tinhorns get better with Romo. Apparently you no longer have to draft QB's to be decent in the league. All you have to do is poach former pro-bowlers displaced by rookie QB's on better teams.
I gotta say, I like what the Browns are doing. They have a lot of early round picks in what is considered a deep draft and build/bought a very good offensive line for whatever young QB they bring in. That's the right way to do things. Plus, Myles Garrett.
