Fanspeak Mock Draft

Quote:My latest:

1 - 4: Solomon Thomas, DL

2 - 3: Adoree' Jackson, CB/Returner

3 - 4: Obi Melifonwu, S

4 - 3: Jake Butt, TE

5 - 4: Isaac Asiata, G

6 - 3: Jalen Reeves-Maybin, LB

7 - 4: Tarean Folston, RB

Why I like it. I got a lot of versatility at the top of the draft and strengthened the strength. I dipped into the TE pool and got a good talent.

Why I hate it. I didn't go RB until the Seventh and that is pretty much a throwaway guy. Lamp was staring at me in Round Two, but I took Jackson over him. My Tight End pick probably won't even play this season.

I like it.  Doubt Obi will be around at that pick, but I'd damn sure take him if he were there.

Yeah Obi wasn't making it to the 3rd even before blowing the doors off the combine.

The closer we come to draft day, the more I like Jonathan Allen. If he drops due to arthritis, a lot of G.M.'s will be regretting the fact that they passed on him. He would be a great pick, especially since Marks and Miller were let go. He can play inside or out and combined with Jackson will make things open up even more for Yannick and an improved Fowler. With Bouye and Ramsay at corner, the team's sack numbers will rise dramatically.

The Allen situation reminds me of Leonard Williams all over again.

He may not be the flashy bang pick. But IMO (barring med eval issues) he's the safest and most ready to make a day 1 impact outside of Garrett.

If he slides out of the top 5, some team is getting a steal I think.

Brien Allen is a great pick for round six.

In round three, I do like Shaheen (especially his height/speed ratio), but I'm wondering if you had a decision to make. What other TEs were available?

If you're going to draft Fournette with the 4th pick, you have to have people to block for him.  Unfortunately, Robinson, Lamp, Bolles, Ramczyk were all gone by the 35th pick.  Since you can't have too many pass rushers, I took the BAP in Tak McKinley and picked up Ethan Pocic in the 3rd.  I like Pocic because he can play anywhere on the interior and I expect he could start this season.  I took Moreau in the 4th.  Again, BAP but he is versatile and can play CB, FS or Nickle.  From there it was again providing protection for your RB investment.  Orlosky might be underrated at C and could eventually push Linder to RG where he belongs.  Other than Robinson at FB, the other two OL in the 7th were the best available.

Also no way in hell Lattimore lasts that long. Unless he tears his Achilles or one of his ex's goes missing.

I had a hard 1st round pick, with Solomon Thomas sitting there when I know he wont be.
I'd fill the bigger hole anyways drafting Fournette.

I feel the rest of the draft I knocked it out of the park, Harvey-Clemons is great value in the 6th. Failed 2 drug tests though.

It feels nice knowing we don't have to patch every position like we did 3-4 years ago.

That draft would be phenomenal.
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

I thought this interesting...Jonathan Allen dropped all the way to pick #35.  I haven't seen that before.  Could he fall in our lap in the 2nd round due to injury concerns much like Myles Jack did a year ago?

Also, I'm not an advocate of taking OJ Howard with the 4th pick.  I just wanted to see how the draft would play out.  And I'm quite surprised by the results.  I'm not sure why Donta Foreman doesn't get much love that he's available in the 4th.

D'onte Foreman in round five is an awesome pick, although realistically there's no chance he's there. ,,,sort of like my Lattimore pick in round two.

LOL ... AWESOME

Kittle especially is moving up boards after the combine. He's now in Mayock's top five, and we may need to get him with our early round three pick. Mayock is now saying 1. Howard 2. Njoku 3. Engram 4. Everett 5. Kittle... As for Everett, he's a great pass catcher but he's just always been a too small to me. I like him, but I have Hodges and Leggett edging him out. I'm basically thinking... 1. Howard 2. Engram 3. Njoku 4. Hodges and then at 5 it's between Leggett and Kittle with Everett maybe just behind them. After that we can start talking about Shaheen, Roberts and the rest of them.

Shaquill Griffin is another pick I love and is a steal in round six. He might need a year to develop, but his size-speed ratio is NFL caliber. I have a good feeling about him.
