Please Mr Caldwell take Manziel with 3rd pick

Quote:Yeah he missed his WR wide open on a double move. Could have scored a TD in the first 2 seconds of that play. His first read was covered and he tried to take off. Thats not good.

You need to re-watch it.....on the left sideline, the play was to fake to Labhart (the guy jumping) in the slot so that the safety and corner would bite on the decoy....the corner bit but the safety didn't and the split end might have run out of end zone.....his 2nd read was Evans coming across the middle at the ten who had a step but for some reason slowed down and the defender was on him.....he steps up in the pocket, does his escape....Labhart, the original decoy is till standing there with a defender near keeping him close.....when Johnny rolls right and threatens to run, the defender leaves Labhart and goes after Johnny.....Johnny throws to Labhart and he runs up the sideline for a 19yd TD. He might have been able to hit the split end but it would have been flirting with the back of the end zone. What I don't understand is Evens slowing down when he had a good step or 2.....that 2nd read could have been a much easier touchdown. He had to do it the hard way.

Quote:Cam Newton is doing ok for himself, as is Kap down in San Fran.
If Manziel stood next to Cam Newton and Kaepernick you would see that Manziel is a short, small framed player.

Quote:And so is Alabama's? He will not get hurt easily. Dude is thick and tough. He won't need to call running plays for himself like he does now. Will he escape pass rushers and extend the plays so a receiver can get open? What do you think? Hell yeah.
He's not thick.  The combine will show he's not 6'1" 210 lbs but 5'11" 190lbs.

The fact that he not only survived but thrived without ever missing a single game in the hardest, biggest, best defense conference for 2-whole seasons, should at least dispel some of the fear of Johnny getting hurt in the NFL. Think about it, 3-other SEC qbs(Driskell, Murray, and Mettenberger) all had season ending injuries this year. The fact that Manziel came away with nothing more than a bruised thumb is a good sign of the kid's wear-and-tear.

And besides, according to the numbers we have right now, Manziel weighs SLIGHTLY less than Derek Carr, and get this, has more weight/pounds/muscle on him than Teddy Bridgewater.

I want 3 players. Clowney, Bridgewater, Manziel. Jaguars have the number 3 pick. Just give me one of those 3 at 3, and I'm happy.

Quote:Manziel won't last until the 2nd...some team will take him in the 1st...I just hope its not us.

Quote:Manziel is a head case who's playing style combined with his size is a recipe for disappointment in the NFL.

I don't think anyone is saying that Manziel is an injury prone player, but that his style of play will lead to a greater chance of injury.

I do agree with that. The art of sliding will do wonders for the kid in the NFL if he ever learns how, lol.

Since Caldwell is tight with Dimitroff it wouldn't surprise me if a trade gets worked so if Clowney is on the board at #3 we can trade back and take Manziel at #6.

For the 20th time.....he won't be required to do that when he gets to the pros.....he would get hurt. Sorry, I'm getting tired of the same old shtick. His running style.....his size.....his weight. Reminds of Brad Gilbert in tennis who became 3rd in the world. No serve, no forehand, decent backhand, not fast, mediocre net game.........wins matches.

Such a crock and a cop-out, though. I say a quarterback that can't escape the pocket and has bad pocket presence put themselves at a greater chance of getting injured.

Russell Wilson runs around like Manziel all the time. Hell, and Manziel is the better athlete.

It wasn't directed at you. It was about his durability compared to Murray and Mettenberger.

You posted the same thing in 2 different threads?

Agenda? Spam??

lol, you better not ever change your opinion on anything, because all this is gonna come bite you...

That was months ago. He's continued to somehow get away and thrive playing that way. Even in big games against good defenses. He's won me over over time.

But thats cool.....

Yeah, thats actually who I compared Manziel's style to in a post earlier today. It wouldn't shock me at all if Manziel is Gus' hopeful for QB because of it, (given from the way he wants to carbon copy everything Seattle)

I posted it in the wrong thread on accident and deleted it within a minute. Try to get me banned though, since that seems to be your schtick.

Also, I've changed my mind on a lot of things. I admit I was wrong on those things, though. You won't admit you were wrong on Manziel.

I said he's won me over. I didn't think his style could sustain. It was an honest take from 4 months ago. Against the odds it has not only sustained, but thrived. I was far from the only one saying that his style wouldn't last and he'd wind up injured. And I'm far from the only one who said that and has now changed their mind on Manziel.
