Are we one player away from a championship?

Quote: It's odd how people keep saying this. Robinson was credited with 3 dropped passes in 2016. (four depending on the statistical source) He wasn't quite in the same form as 2015 in 2 or 3 games last year, but the issues with Robinson's stat line were the product of Blake's accuracy and Olson's play calling. Not dropped passes. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:It's odd how people keep saying this.He had three dropped passes that lead to interceptions , he dropped a touchdown pass in the London game and drop a couple of passes in the last game versus the Colts. However, he gets a Pass from many Jaguar fans because Blake Bortles is scapegoat here for everything is wrong last season. ![]() Quote:He had three dropped passes that lead to interceptions , he dropped a touchdown pass in the London game and drop a couple of passes in the last game versus the Colts. However, he gets a Pass from many Jaguar fans because Blake Bortles is scapegoat here for everything is wrong last season. He had the one legit bad TD drop week 1 against Green Bay. The "dropped" TD against the Colts was low, behind him, and spinning sideways like a UFO. The "dropped" INT against the Broncos was another poorly placed ball where he had to fight through an elite corner in Harris Jr to attempt to catch it, and it popped up into the defenders hands very unluckily. Both were difficult plays that Arob could have made and sometimes will make, but neither were counted as drops. But that doesn't affect my point concerning Bortles. I'm not making Bortles a scapegoat. I'm telling it very matter-of-factly like it is. His footwork and mechanics were just plainly out of whack and it led to serious accuracy problems. That's what happened last year. The lack of running game and the lackluster coaching and play calling were also contributing factors, but Bortles threw WAY too many uncatchable passes last season -- and the majority of them were clearly a product of his regression in technique. Robinson's two bobbled INTs and small number of "drops" were a mere drop in the bucket when compared to Blake Bortles' struggles delivering an accurate pass last year.
Regardless of how the ball, or wounded duck, reached its destination - Robinson gets PAID to catch the ball.
Rule #1 for receivers - if it hits you in the hands, you catch the damn ball. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote: My man, it was a question to legit Jaguar fans. Not the ones who find it amusing to even ponder about a Superbowl! Smh if you read my statement you will see it was in fact a question! You bringing up last year's team to validate your answer for this year's question.. We know what the Jaguars were last season . This season we have a new head coach and vice president, that's not taking no shirt. We acquired some nice pieces out of FA, to help booster a good defense..Now it's on too the draft! If the right pieces could be added, please tell me what besides Bortles can keep this team from being a team that makes the Superbowl.. (listed together because I believe one is incumbent upon the other) The development of the pass rush. (it's close, but not on a championship level IMO) Those are really the only other things besides QB holding them back. At least on paper.

Actually it was 3 the Broncos game, the Oakland game, and the Bears game were the three moment allen robinson dropped a pass which is in a interception. I agree Blake has regressed but the blame need to be shared among a lot of them on offense. ![]() Quote:Actually it was 3 the Broncos game, the Oakland game, and the Bears game were the three moment allen robinson dropped a pass which is in a interception. Though it was much more a perfectly timed (split second early) tackle/break-up by Sean Smith than anything resembling a drop. I mean, there's no way this is classified as a dropped pass. Clearly that ball hit him IN THE HANDS and he is PAID to catch balls like that, NO EXCUSES!Sounds like you need some KY Jelly for that butthurt because it seems like what I said struck a nerve with you.

The ball would have been caught. Is it a tough catch to make? Yes, but are catches like impossible? Heck no - in fact, that "low and away" throw is used quite often so that a receiver can use his body to shield the defender away from the ball. Quote:Yes, regardless if Smith is riding him like sea biscuit. Then I'm sorry to say but you are hopeless. Quote:That's funny coming from the guy who does mental gymnastics when someone says "Bortles" or "Fournette".Yep, using reason and statistics to debate a point of view is quite the mental gymnastics. Quote:How close is this team from really being a championship team?If the draft falls the way I hope and we trade our # 4 to Cleveland for #12, # 33 & #108 --- then we are only one QB away from a being a big factor in the playoffs. Ideally Bortles plays like 2015 but with less passing attempts but below average personal turnovers. Quote:Th O-Line and the running game. (listed together because I believe one is incumbent upon the other) OK so they added Albert already... If they drafted Fournette and go guard in the 2nd. Tell me how you feel about that?? And we will say they snag a qb of your choosing in the 3rd.. Quote:OK so they added Albert already... If they drafted Fournette and go guard in the 2nd. Tell me how you feel about that?? And we will say they snag a qb of your choosing in the 3rd.. I hope and expect them to draft a guard in the second or third, but it doesn't necessarily "fix" the line. It's a good start though. I'd also like to see a plan B quarterback selected in the third or fourth round. (Webb or Peterman) I would feel like they are a lot closer to having the right talent in place to at least win a playoff game. Still lots of question marks in terms of trusting some young players to perform and a new coaching staff - but I'd feel pretty good about at least challenging to win the division if it went down like that. |
