4.  Providing a competent or better running game for a QB is not eschewing him.  Historically, when teams draft QBs, they draft RBs to support them. 

I wouldn't consider providing a QB who has only played out of shotgun heavy offenses in his career with a running back who has only played from under center supporting though. To me it would seem like burdening a QB who is already struggling to fix his mechanics, of which footwork and balance issues are a big part of the problem, with having to master 3-5-7 step drop backs at the same time might not be the wisest thing to do.

I don't see the "generational talent". He's big and fast for his size, but he isn't exceptionally quick. Poor vision, poor blocking, unproven receiving ability, no exceptional physical talents outside of strength, etc.

Yikes, I do purposefully avoid long form big draft so I guess I'm not surprised. They did say all of that absurd stuff about Fowler being athletic and explosive too. 

 

Not arguing that he has size, long speed, and very good power once he gets his momentum going but a lot of the rest of that was pretty silly compared to what I and a whole lot of others have observed. 

 

Unfortunately I think our front office is going to agree with big draft so I'll hope they're right if he is the pick which I have resigned myself to believing. 

If the Jags had just agreed with the big drafts in the past, we wouldn't have drafted so poorly.

On another note, LSU's pro day is today so let's put some empirical evidence behind the theories on his explosion and agility. All we have so far is the awful vertical to support lack of explosion before he dropped out of the rest of the drills.

Yes. He takes the obvious lanes or tries to power throw those that aren't. He rarely if ever cuts back too. What else would that be?

I'm sure they all spend as much, or more time, scouting these players than you and your underground draft rebellion party does. So if he slides down the boards into the teens, then clearly they're seeing the same stuff as you guys. But if he goes top 8, like I suspect, then it goes to show you that maybe you guys aren't as smart as you think. Because if you were, then all of you would be running NFL teams, instead of working 9 to 5s like the rest of us and watching film as a hobby.

Besides, there have been plenty of great RBs that weren't cutback guys.

 

Eddie George, Earl Campell, Eric Dickerson, Jerome Bettis, Gerald Riggs, Bo Jackson and many others had great careers without being great cutback guys.

I am not "you guys", but a lot of "us" have been offered and turned down jobs in the industry because running a successful scouting site pays a lot more than a scout job does and it doesn't require travel 200+ days a year that rips you from your family.
