Great article on Michael Bennett's slide in the draft.

Quote:It was just the anti-DT draft for some reason. Carl Davis, Grady Jarrett, and Michael Bennett were all mega steals (Henry Anderson too, but he at least managed to squeak into the 2nd day). I think the aforementioned were 3 of the 4 biggest steals of the draft, with Tre McBride in the 7th being the other one.

I think many of these guys just aren't as good as you and the other draftniks thought. Not saying they're not good but maybe they're not as good as you had them ranked.

I would say that maybe teams just didn't draft DT's this year but virtually the same amount were drafted this year as last.

I'm not seeing any reason D-Rob makes the 2013 draft class any more palatable. He may be gone by the start of the 2015 season.

Why?  That's what we do.

Just earlier today, I was watching some Derrick Henry highlights and worrying about how we will miss out on the home-town RB next year when he enters as a junior.

We'll take Kelvin Taylor instead then.

Pssh, hope not.  Maybe in the 4th round.  LOL

That'd be something though.

Agreed.  I don't think he's a roster lock like some folks here do.  I've never seen him make a play out there where I am thinking this is the future for the team.  Clearly, neither has Caldwell since Yeldon is a Jaguar.  Robinson is in a tough fight for a roster spot this year, IMO.

Hopefully he comes back but if Bosa is there now…I think you take him

I actually found another article just like this:

http://walterfootball.com/ws2015mbennett.php

The thing that surprised me was that 3-4 teams thought he couldn't fit in that scheme. I like him better there personally.

Are you in an alternate universe?

Shoelace has talent. He's not going anywhere, in my humble opinion.

Of all our running backs last year, Denard was the most effective when it counted.

The RB that torched the tacks, I've already forgotten his name, was all sorts of stink when compared to D.Rob.

Shoelace not only makes the roster, but he contributes big time.

DRob played really well last year before the injury. His ideal fit is as a change of pace back. I think he definitely has a role to play on this team and I like him better to spell Yeldon than Gerhart, Pierce or Johnson. I'm of the opinion that Gerhart is the one whose roster spot is in jeopardy.

With Fowler out for the season, he's our only hope to lead the d-line.

Really mate?  Our only hope?  To lead?  The rookie that fell?  I'm not construing this right, obviously ; )

Regarding DRob...cut him, then pass on the reigns to the rookie and Gerhart who showed us so much already?  Ya, that's logical.  A #BecauseJaguars opinion.

All that tells me is that they got away from running the ball too early. Hard to do much when you're getting 3,5, and 9 attempts.

Robinson makes this team before Slowby does.  Gerhart is flat out terrible.

I think you are being harsh.

Consider he played with a rookie QB and rookie WRs, behind a putrid OL, and that the team played from behind most of the time.

In 6 of these 10 games, he had a 4.0 YPC average or higher.

Given that he was still new to the position and the rest of the above, that wasn't bad.

Now will he ever be a 25 carry per game, 1500 yard rusher like Emmitt Smith was?

No.

But can he be a good change of pace back who could step in for a game or two and get us some good yardage with some breakaway ability?

Absolutely.

Worst to 1st.  Curse Reversed!

Only hope? Really? Somebody should tell Clemons and Marks that they're incapable of leading the defensive line.

If Robinson was anything great our second round pick wouldn't have been used on his replacement.

Good point, and despite many sports media stating that the Jaguars have a RB already in shoelace the Jaguars GM made it clear that RB was a huge need in the draft.

I thought shoelace did good towards the end of the season, but his constant fumbling and lack of ability to get the tough yards (which they hope Yeldon can do & be more of the 3 down back that D-Rob isnt).
