This year vs last year

#1

In comparing this year's team to last year's four things immediately stand out.

1.  This year the Jaguars will be able to run the ball effectively.  I do know that this is a projection, but the OL is physically stronger.  Last year's players are coming back bigger and the additions of Cann and Parnell will make the OL a better run-blocking OL.  Also the loses of Toddman and the FB are minimal while the additions of TJ Yeldon and Pierce are significant.

2.  The S position this year is much stronger than last year's S position.  Both Browne and Sample improve the FS position and give added value to special teams.  I may have taken Adrian Amos rather than Sample, but I acknowledge that Sample probably has the higher upside.  Lofton will probably remain on the final 53 as the 5th S.

3.  Adding Julius Thomas at the TE position in FA definite improved the receiving ability of the position.  Also adding Sterling and Koyack strengthened the youth and future of the TE position.

4.  The additions of Fowler, Bennett, and Odrick improved the DL.  The Jaguars should increase their number of sacks and pressures on the QB this year.

5.  As a bonus the play of our QB should improve with his second year at the position and his preparations during the offseason.  2, 3, and 4 win seasons should be behind the Jaguars for many years.

If bradly goes 4-12, then he is fired.

We have weapons on offense. And we have a beast D Line.

Telvin Smith could very well be our Captain after this season. He's that good.

Our pass rush will make our secondary look better.

Saying the addition of Pierce is significant might be a bit of a stretch.

I'm thinking about how our team will look after another offseason. We'll have a league high cap space again...and if everything works out it will just be an embarrassment of riches. We can easily sign Mack to an offer sheet again this offseason, and hopefully Joeckel and Cyp pull it together and Cann or Beadles is the answer at LG. Yeldon works out and Denard plays like he did before the injury, and Bortles improves and has a fighting chance behind the oline with a running game, I mean, I don't know what we spend our money on offense on other than Mack and another O-lineman maybe.

Then look on defense. We could very well go defense heavy in both free agency and the draft and put together an all-world defense. After another draft and free agency where we add more quality pass rushers and get some linebackers, and hopefully Sample works out, man. We could take a linebacker in the first  and second round next year (a good year for linebackers) and set this defense up to be incredible.

I just want to see them put up 30 points a few times. Have the talent to do it now.

They will need the OC to do it, hopefully Olsen is it.

I survived the Gus Bradley Error.

I may be wrong, but isn't Gipson a FA again next season if he doesn't get an extension? If we still need a FS we could steal Gipson AND Mack away from Cleveland
IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS

I think the greatest addition this offseason is the addition of another year. Another offseason and Bortles comes in with experience, refined mechanics, and a refreshed arm.

Don't forget we added Wiz too. Amos was on my mind, but I'm hoping Sample can grow and get the job done. Along with the QB growing from last year the WR's should grow along with him helping Bortles. As the average year the WR jumps to success are year 2 & year 3. Let's wait and see guys.
