What is happening with the 49ers?

An overhaul is harder for fans to take.  Hurts worse in the short term, but if done right isn't as much long term pain.

Our problem was we drew it out too long, kept too many pieces that weren't worth keeping.  But most of all QB so bad for so long, miss after miss at QB is the death kiss.

In perfect hindsight, of course.

It basically comes down to this: if the team that is rebuilding/overhauling has a competent HC, GM, and owner, the team has a great shot at a successful rebuild in a shorter period of time.

If NOT, then that team will continue to be bad, year after year after year, until they do get some competent football people in their top positions.

And yes, you have to find an above average or better QB to have any chance of long term success.

I survived the Gus Bradley Error.

And they just can't catch a break. They've lost yet another Linebacker.

Being a Buckeyes fan does not guarantee I will always know where every former Ohio State player is any given day. Carlos Hyde could have changed teams without my knowing it because he is a backup. Dane Sanzenbacher did.

oh my god! wow hahahahahahaha

Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

By the time the draft begins, they probably won't have any starting linebackers.

Aldon Smith: On the roster bubble

Navorro Bowman: On the roster bubble

Patrick Willis: retired

Chris Borland: retired

Who is left?

I think its safe to say that their draft will be LB heavy.

Starting with Kendricks or Perryman in Round 1.

Now is a bad time to run the 3-4 defense.

Another 49er LB down.

What a string of bad luck!

Considering where they were a couple of seasons ago, the bloodletting at LB is mind boggling.

Worst to 1st.  Curse Reversed!

The Curse of Harbaugh is in force here.

They had their really good HC and their window of opportunity.

Both are now gone.

OMG one torn ACL after another! Why is it so easy to tear that ligament?

So now the 49ers don't even have replacements for the guys who retired.

The more this train wreck keeps happening, the more I begin to think that Tomsula is little more than an interim head coach, who'll be tasked with overseeing the rebuild then unceremoniously fired in two years after a pair of losing seasons. The 49ers will then go back out and make the splashy hire they wanted to in the first place with a solid roster already built for that coach.

The train wreck started when they decided keeping Jim Tomsula was more important than hiring Adam Gase  No competent team owner would do that IMO. The good news obviously is Gase can get the 49ers job when Tomsula is fired.

It started long before that, when Baalke and Harbaugh decided that they could no longer co-exist and team kept Baalke over Harbaugh.

Veteran players complained about Jim Harbaugh. He was the guy messing up last year, not Trent Ballke.

Letting Harbaugh go will always be a big screw up for this team... Add on all this other stuff

This draft is FULL of 3-4 linebackers.  ILB and OLB.

It would be interesting to know exactly what imploded within the organization.

This team lost the coach and four star members. Talk about bad luck.
