Shad Khan's thoughts on the team moving forward

Quote:That is building a new stadium kind of money. hard to believe.
Why is it difficult to believe that a project of this scope would cost a billion or more?  You're talking about a multi-use development that would have massive implications on the area.  The cost of developing the land that is currently included in the shipyards project could easily hit or exceed $1 billion.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

It's been ten years since the SB was here and there actually has been a lot of development around the area, including a whole lot more hotels than there were before. I can understand why visitors here would feel like there's nothing to do locally, especially if the weather turns inclement. The downtown area would have to dramatically change for that perception to go away too. The shipyard development would be a big step, but only a step. If you've lived in J'ville very long then you know that the main reason for staying away from downtown after dark is the high crime percentage... particularly on the north side of downtown. A whole lot would need to change before anyone who's old enough to know better is going to 'hang out' down town.

Frankly, I get nervous when I hear the the owner being used in sentences about the team playing in London and 'change'. It could happen.

Well word is the big day is tomorrow.  State of the Jaguars address.  Shipyards and club seats.  They announced today the US Assure has already put their name on the new club seats when they are renovated. So from that it seems the team is pretty confident that the money will be there to do the renovations.

What a time to watch this team and the bond and commitment they are making with the city of Jacksonville.

I'm glad to hear that we are reeling in the sponsors.

I don't think that sponsorship is for just when they get the clubs renovated.  I think that's effective this coming season, and I haven't heard anything indicating they'd be renovating that area this off season.  They would have already started that process if they were going to do so.

Here's the Jags article announcing the naming rights deal.

Awesome!  The financial health of the franchise is first and foremost the most important thing.  We can't have success on the field in Jacksonville unless we have success off the field in Jacksonville.

I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.
