Josh Evans

Quote:Not a fan of Evans.  A few good plays here and there, but LOTS of misses, bad angles and blown assignments.

I expect FS to be addressed early in the draft or with the best available FA at the position.   It's gotta' be upgraded for Gus' scheme to really come together properly.

Evans would be a decent back-up and still has some upside.  May do well on ST.

Agree with all of this. I think right tackle and free safety will be the first two positions addressed in free agency.

Quote:I say throw the truck at Earl Thomas. He is the perfect candidate. He already knows the system. He's a great player.

That be the best option but Seattle won't let him go

Earls not leaving seattle unless there is major fallout between the 2 sides and given their success and his close friendship with the rest of the defense (sherm in particular) id say there is a rough 5% chance he leaves.

Even less likely that he would wanna sign here.

Why are we discussing Earl Thomas? He has been re-signed already.

Cyprien has been a tackling machine lately for the team. I agree that Evans has potential. But I think we still need a veteran back there to keep the secondary in check as far as assignments are concerned. If it's anybody to be excited about right now in our secondary it would be Aaron Colvin.

We need more from our safeties. I would call them average even on their good days. Interceptions are too rare of a commodity around here.

No pain, no gain.

Quote:After last night if we didn't trade our mid teen first rounder Reggie Nelson we wouldn't need a free safety.

I always thought Reggie Nelson needed to be on a different team after seeing him play for the Bengals. He sucked in Jacksonville, moved to Cincinnati, and started playing much better. We have seen this happen before with several others, so I have no reason to think it is a coincidence.

Evans is backup caliber, nothing more. He's a liability in the secondary, more so than Cyprien is, and he needs to be relegated to a job as the third safety and a core special teamer.
