Well, we all know it's exceedingly rare for really good, young players to hit FA.

It's realistically possible that the Seahawks won't be able to afford re-signing DE Cliff Avril,  who is from Jacksonville.    It wouldn't surprise me if Avril ends up signing with the Jaguars,  when factoring need,  scheme,   and the player being from the area.

A definite possibility. He got his ring, now he'll get his big deal.

And hopefully doesn't get fat and lazy after his big deal.

Exactly!

That much more if the Seahawks win the Super Bowl this season as well.

Malcolm Smith might still be an option.

He'd make sense as a Dakoda Watson type gamble this offseason.

I'm not big on Smith. Doesn't seem like a special talent to me. We need someone who can seriously upgrade the strongside, which he would not.

They'll need to address Wilson coming soon as well.  Seahawks will need to be savvy when it comes to the next steps with a talented young roster from a financial standpoint.  Not a bad problem to have, though.

Wilson is under contract for an additional season and the salary cap is expected to rise significantly. Most of their other core players are locked up for the near future (Thomas, Chancellor, Sherman, Bennett, Wright and now Avril).
