Bortles is the right QB for what offense Kelly wants to run

It wouldn't surprise me if we'd keep Hackett around as the QB coach if Kelly gets hired as offensive coordinator. That way there would still be some continuity for Bortles even though we'd have a new offensive scheme.

Quote:the 9ers had a top 10 running game by DVOA last season with the 9ers. Carlos Hyde had 988 yards and 6tds in 13 games with no passing game to benefit from.

Great! Can't wait to see what he does with all pros Ivory and Yeldon.

I think there are legitimate points one can argue against Chip Kelly and his offenses, but his success at running the ball isn't really one of them.

I actually think this would be a great hire. Bortles is a great fit for what Kelly does. As people have mentioned he'd also get the run game going.

Under TC and Marrone he could just focus on the offence, which is what he does best

Don't tell that to Demarco Murray.

I've said before I don't like Kelly.

That being said, as OC I wouldn't hate it.

Quote:Yes, Bortles fares well in hurry up/up tempo situations.

Still not sure if I am for Kelly as OC.

He seems to dramatically burn bridges everywhere he goes.

He chased away McCoy, D Jackson, and the guy now in Tennessee.

Who would he run away here?

No one. I think of it like this. Marrone and coughlin are in charge. They're wise, no nonsense guys who know how to run a team.

There won't be any kind of favoritism or drama coming from chip with that kind of leadership.
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

I laughed when i saw this, not because i oppose the hiring, but because i couldn't wait to see the comments...carry on

Hackett is already confirmed to be retained on the staff. If Chip is hired as OC Hackett will definitely be the QB coach.

The humorous thing is that this is what we all wanted. Clean house, get big name guys in here....

And now people still complain.

They wanted a big name they just didn't realize every big name has risks with it.

Big names never become available without some sort of question mark.

Quote:So you're saying Chip Kelly will somehow make Tom Coughlin his puppet  :teehee:

He doesn't have to influence anybody to alienate players.
