Percy Harvin Traded to New York Jets

#41

Quote:Seahawk fan here. Per Bob Conddotta of the Seattle Times:

"One source confirmed a report that Harvin had gotten into an altercation with former Seahawk Golden Tate prior to the Super Bowl that resulted in Tate getting a black eye.

A source also said Harvin had an altercation with Seattle receiver Doug Baldwin in the week leading up to the final preseason game this August at Oakland that resulted in Baldwin getting a cut on his chin and each player being excused from practices that week. Harvin, who did not practice for two days prior to that game, did not make the trip to Oakland for what the team said at the time was “a personal matter.”

One final straw, a league source said, came in Sunday’s 30-23 loss to Dallas when Harvin apparently balked at going back into the game in the fourth quarter. Harvin played 26 of 48 official snaps but did not play 11 of the final 17."

Doug Baldwin is a universally beloved player for the Seahawks by the fans who is a embodiment of Always Compete and the idea that you earn your place on the Seahawks. His impact the last three years doesn't show up on the stat sheet as it should. If the above is true and Harvin was one of the players Baldwin claimed was resting on his laurels then good riddance. Mistake to get him. Sucks we gave up so much. We'll be a better team in the long run for it.

Thanks for the insight, and I agree with that last part also. You just can't have that on your team.

Bullseye is right, they swung for the fences and hit it out with Harvin who played an instrumental role in their SB win. Now they get rid of him for peanuts, the difference essentially being the cost of renting him for the time they had him. It worked, they got their value.

Certainly they would have wanted more but, given his apparent behavior under the quintessential players coach...he had to go.

The Jets, OTOH, seem to embrace controversy so this is a good match for them.

It looks like some of the Seahawks core is unhappy with the Harvin trade despite rumors of locker room issues:

Quote:Report: Lynch goes off after Harvin trade

Marshawn Lynch | SEA

(October 18, 2014 11:27 AM EDT)

The New York Daily News' Manish Mehta reported Marshawn Lynch "almost did not get on the bus" after learning of the Percy Harvin trade.

The team was informed of the Harvin trade before boarding a bus to the airport for Sunday's game at Saint Louis. Lynch reportedly "went off" before almost not boarding the bus. Lynch, Cliff Avril and Bruce Irvin also voiced displeasure about the move on Twitter. The Seahawks hoped shifting Harvin would remedy issues that had been developing in the locker room, but it appears the trade may have initially done more harm than good. Lynch is still likely to play against the Rams this weekend.

Harvin has to be a total locker room cancer, a mid round pick?!

That's what I just read . Either 4 or 6 rd pick bc he was a piece of crap to the team and teammates. Started fights and stuff. Harvin has always been into trouble.

Quote:He's a cancer. Reportedly gave Golden Tate a black eye and nearly fought Russell Wilson.

Pete Carroll is the ultimate players coach. If he can't coach you, there's a problem.

Well stated!

There was at least one report I saw earlier tonight that there was concern that Percy Harvin broke Golden Tate's neck as a result of body slamming Tate.

Even w/o Percy Harvin's playmaking skills,  I'm convinced that your favorite team is far better off without Harvin than if the Seahawks kept him.   If you can't function well on a team with ultimate team player Russell Wilson as your starting QB,   it speaks volumes about Harvin and anyone else that might fit that category.

this trade is gonna come back to bite them. it is already, their offense loses a lot without percy. what he brought that team every single time he was in the game whether he touched the ball or not isnt replaceable.
