I just want to smell .500 at this point... I do have to say I wouldnt mind McCoy as OC.

Things getting started ... Rams, Jaguars, 49ers have reached out to show interest in Patriots OC Josh McDaniels.

Like it. Word has it Arizona and NE loved Bortles coming out.

Denver was scary, but he isn't having personnel control. That was his big downfall. He fits the criteria of offensive mind with past experience.

Quote:The good thing about Smith is he has a great eye for quality offensive staff.
Yup, and that needs to be taken into account. He didn't ever have the talent on defense in ATL, but he always had top offenses. Obviously likely wasn't huge when it came to the offensive side of the ball.

If we got a Smith, McCoy combo I'd be happy.

No. Maybe LA because it's Los Angeles but in no way is SF a more desirable job than Jax. SF's roster is very BAD! No weapons on offense and a bottom five unit on defense.

No one from the Belicheck tree has panned out yet. I just don't see McDaniels coming here. My guess is Smith.

Yup he hired Mularkey and Dirk Koetter as his OCs at Atlanta. Mularkey had a brusing rushing attack then switched to a passing attack with Koetter as Ryan and Julio developed.

Also had the current Raiders OC Bill Musgrave as his QB coach and assistant HC with the Raiders.

I highly doubt Musgrave would leave the Raiders but he would be an option to become Smiths OC/assistant HC.

Rams to ask permission to speak with Payton:

Also McDaniels seems to be well aware why he failed in Denver, I don't think his ego will get in the way his second time around.

Jags have reached out to McDaniels

Oh word ?

We should be aiming for winners. McDaniels has VERY limited HC experience and the experience he had was poor. Why do people want him?

McDaniels then quickly retreated and sprayed himself with disinfectant

I believe someone pointed out a couple weeks ago that dave Caldwell and Josh McDaniels went to college together and maybe even played on the same team so there is some familiarity there.

He also has ties with Mike Smith from Atlanta so those would be two guys to keep an eye on.
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

Yep, Caldwell and McDaniels played football together at John Carroll University.

Pass on McDaniels.

Smith seems like a good option and if he brings in a solid OC I would be on board.

Let's see what happens and how the other teams move as well.

@adamschefter Rams are requesting permission today to interview Jaguars' interim HC Doug Marrone for their HC job, per source.

From some of the comments I've read from the players since yesterday's game, it seems like they want a clean sweep of the coaching staff and all new coaches.

NFL coaches spend 24/7/365 working.   They don't go clubbing, and they don't care about being a celebrity.   They will go to the best situation for success.   An NFL coach would hardly even know he was in LA, except for the excessive California taxes he'd be paying.

As for the Niners' "pedigree," that died when Eddie DeBartolo left the team a few decades ago.
