Quote:If he has the ability to play C as well as guard, it's probably a good idea to trade up and get him. I just don't want DC jumping at shadows and trading away picks left and right thinking he has to get his guy when he could still be there later on when it's time to use their actual pick.

He traded Gabbert to get him

A 6th rounder to secure the guy you want is really throwing away a pick....especially since it was the Gabbert 6th.

Quote:I hear ya, but as said, I think Caldwell was right on this one. I don't think Linder would have been there. The Guards were going fast. JMO.

You're right TMD. And they are still going. I think it was a good call by DC to pull the trigger on Linder. Reports from ESPN state we will target Defense tomorrow.

If you think I offended you, don't worry, I meant to. #facts

Going off purely youtube videos, he looks like he will bring some physicality to the line.Pretty impressed.

Yup, looks like that quote from Ryan O was indeed about not going O-Line tomorrow. We seem to believe in Brewster.

D is the way to go, we got our franchise qb, we got 2 nice young WR's, and from the sounds of it a guy at guard that won't light the world on fire, but be a solid guy that you can plug in there and not worry about.

This is where we should find some gems though, this is where Seattle found some of their D talent...the late rounds. Hopefully we can find a gem or two.

You know what Linder reminds me of?.....the kind of OL the Patriots get. Guys you may overlook in the draft, and then they become really good starters.

Lets hope that Brewster is like Meester, a way better Center than guard

I am worried about TMD. I think someone hijacked his account.

It was a bit of a reach - but with the guards coming off the board so quickly and the team's desire to protect a young QB -  I can live with it. As long as he wins the starting role at RG.

Per rotoworld:

Quote:Jaguars draft Brandon Linder at No. 93

Brandon Linder | JAC

(May 9, 2014 10:59 PM EDT)

Jaguars traded up with the Patriots to select Miami (FL) G/T Brandon Linder with the No. 93 overall pick.

Linder (6-foot-5 3/8, 311) made 42 career starts on the Hurricanes' line, seeing some action at right tackle but primarily playing right guard. He was a second-team All-ACC pick as a senior. Linder has lengthy 34 1/2-inch arms and adequate athleticism with a 5.35 forty time and 26 1/2-inch vertical. He shows a mean streak on tape and could develop into a starting guard. We're penciling in Linder at right guard on the Jags' line, opposite LG Zane Beadles. Mike Brewster is the center with Luke Joeckel and Austin Pasztor at tackle.

It wasn't any more of a reach than the Redskins taking Spencer Long where they did or The Eagles taking that Oregon WR where they did.

Once you get to this point of the draft, you just get your guys. Linder is no slouch.

I worry more about reaching when it pertains to the higher rounds.

I prefer this calm 2014 TMD draft perspective to last year.

The Redskins and Eagles 100% reached. I think Linder was selected about where he was graded.
