Cleveland matches Jags offer for Mack
|
Quote:Man, the highest C salary in the league this year is 7.38 mil. Do we really want to spend 40-50% more than the next highest C in the entire league, which is probably what it would take? Mack is good but he isn't a demigod. I think it's one that would be exciting short term, but probably even as early as next year we'd be wanting to not have that 10 mil cap hit for a good not great C. And no, just because "we have the cap room so why not" is not a good excuse to blow a positional value salary out of the stratosphere. That is a lot of money, but they have room and it wouldn't hurt them especially since they will be starting a drafted QB soon with a rookie contract. Overpaying for a couple guys is not what breaks teams with regards to the cap, but rather those huge QB contracts. We won't need to worry about that until at least 5 years.
