NFL says dunking on goal posts will be a penalty in 2014

They won't stop until there is a penalty on every play.  More TV time for the officials.

Why don't they just raise the crossbar?? I mean, they already decided to raise the uprights by 5 feet...wouldn't it make sense to raise the crossbar? Make it to a height that the players couldn't reach.

This would also help the pat issue.

I rolled on the floor laughing, With all those missed reads in the pocket Manziel had to improvise. If he had just stuck to the play book (or just be Teddy Bridgewater) A&M would have been in the National Title hunt late

Quote:Move along, Jimmy Graham was the only one really that did this and he's already stated he's going to continue doing it, so we can rest easy now.

But, it would hurt for longer field goals.  The league wants the drama.

I think telling the players they'll be penalized will pretty much take care of this without any further changes to the goal posts.

I did hear an interesting point about the reasoning behind this yesterday.  There's a liability issue here with them adding 5 feet to the posts.  If the goal posts become unstable or out of alignment, that extra 5 feet makes a big difference in the stability of the structure.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
