Along with my Hanson admission I also liked some of the Lilith Fair singers, particularly the lineup of the original in 97-98. I was in college at the time. Caught a lot of flak from some of my teammates. Couldn't care less though! I like what I like!

 

Sarah McLachlan, Paula Cole, Jewel, Joan Osborne.

 

I'm with you on them. I'm a sucker for quality female vocalists. I'm not sure if they were Lilith Fair originals, but I'd add Alanis Morissette and these girls to the list (one of the best concerts I've attended was the Indigo Girls at the Florida Theater - even the overabundance of Goth and Emo was entertaining):

Read the post.   It claims that song as one of a million songs that use the device described.   It's an example of a musical technique.

I walked into their 1990 concert at the Florida Theater having never heard one of their songs.  Needless to say, I was completely blown away.

 

Other guilty pleasures:  The Dawson Creek soundtrack is fantastic, especially the haunting "London Rain" by Heather Nova.  Until they were ripped off out of my car at a repair shop, I had both ABBA's greatest hits I and II, and listened to them all the time.  I am a huge Neil Diamond, John Denver, and Gordon Lightfoot fan (Like Mike Golic!).

 

Paula Cole was up for about 6 grammys for "I Don't Want to Wait" in about 1999.  She won for best new artist, but she should have won every one of 'em.  It's an incredible song.

 

Sara McLaughlin is THE female Peter Gabriel.  And that's such a good thing.

Where did I say that I didn't like Winger?  The premise - as rollerjag politely pointed out - is that I am ashamed to admit it.

 

In fact, I like them and a lot of Hair bands.  Ratt's Warren DeMartini may be my generation's most underappreciated guitarist.  But hey, that's just not a popular thing to say.  I have XM radio, and like to check out the Hair Nation channel from time to time.  I would recommend the same to everyone.  One of your favorites in the past has been Queensryche, but you have yet to list the testicle-vice lyrics of "Take Hold of the Flame".  A sad omission.

 

After checking out your submissions, TMD, I am happy to report that we have plenty in common with our musical tastes.  That's good, because I'm not sure we agree on much else.

Yeah, 1990 is about right. Like you, I was mostly unaware of Indigo Girls. My sister dragged me to the concert. I owe her for that.
