Quote:He also gave himself his own contract. Drafted the contract, typed it, spell checked it, and mailed it to his own agent, then went to agent's office to sign it

Yeah, he mailed it in alright.

Why are you surprised? Peyton Manning is one of the all-time top five quarterbacks statistically.

Quote:JW, any updates on how former Jaguars are doing in this game?

As others stated, Jeremy Mincey (who has only been in Denver a few weeks) sacked Phillip Rivers.

Later in the game, Terrance Knighton nearly sacked Rivers.

JDR was not bad either because San Diego had only 79 total yards in three quarters.

Quote:When will kickers and punters ever learn...

Nick Novak did it right. Phil Simms pointed out when Mike Scifres was down punters are not trained to tackle.

I was wondering why Eric Decker returned that punt instead of return specialist Trindon Holliday.

Quote:SD's o-line looking like week 3 Jaguars on that one.

The overall play from both of the Chargers lines in this game probably was the # 1 reason why they lost the game.  I certainly didn't expect the Broncos to win the battle in the trenches,  especially to the extent that they did.

As we have seen over the years, It's hard enough to beat Peyton Manning when you play fundamentally sound.   When you put them into favorable down and distance situations because of concentration penalties,  like the Chargers did 5 times up front on Defense,   the results are predictable.

Peyton Manning told Tracy Wolfson Denver's success on third down was the difference when she asked him how the Broncos beat the team that beat them in the same stadium a month ago.

I give Peyton Manning plenty of props for the 3rd and 17 completion to TE Julius Thomas that kept the Chargers from getting the ball back with more than enough time to have a realistic chance at a tying TD drive.   However, a major key to the Broncos Offense success today was being in much more favorable down and distance situations overall than they were in last month against the Chargers.  Part of it was the Chargers not being disciplined enough on Defense.   You can't give the opposition 25 free yards like the Chargers did and expect to win.

True.  The same with Tom Brady.   This could easily be the last time the two QB's are the 2 starting QB's in the same playoff game.

Peyton Manning is behind on Super Bowl rings and supermodels but part of me still looks at Tom Brady as the underdog.   Manning was the first overall pick the year he came into the league.  Brady lasted to Round 6 of the draft and wasn't even considered by most the best QB on the Michigan roster at the time.   I'm probably going to root for the Patriots but will be content to see a great game regardless which team wins next Sunday.

At this point in time I'll be surprised if either the Broncos and Patriots goes on to win the Super Bowl this season.   I'll never count either QB out,  let alone a Bill Belichick coached team.  But in terms of overall rosters of players expected to be available for the Super Bowl,  both the Seahawks and 49ers look like they will be difficult for the AFC representative to beat.

If Manning wins this, he'll solidify his place in the Brady-Manning Rivalry. Manning did beat him in '06, but Brady's dominated the overall series between the two.

Manning needs to beat Brady if he wants to go down as something more than Brady's underling. He has the Stats, now all he needs is two more wins to end the season.

We can easy have a multipage thread about the Peyton Manning/Tom Brady rivalry if anybody is willing to start one. Next Sunday will be the 15th episode of that if you count regular season games.
