Rank the BCS Champions

#21

This is a hard list, because the top 5 could easily differ.

2005 Texas

2003 LSU

2008 Florida

1999 Florida State

2010 Auburn

2001 Miami

2013 Florida State

1998 Tennessee

2002 OSU

2000 Oklahoma

2006 Florida

2004 USC

2007 LSU

2009 Alabama

Quote:I think 2013 FSU team should be 3rd on that list.  They did so many things that haven't been done before with that team.  2001 Miami should be #1, that team was ridiculous.

Yes that Miami team was ridiculous, but I think a lot of people overrate that team because of their NFL success. They barely squeaked by Boston College that year, and they didn't even score an offensive touchdown. They also needed a failed two point conversion to beat VT.

Well, I don't know if you can overrate that team, maybe make a case for them not being 1st at the collegiate level.  I think you will find most BCS champions had a hiccup or two along the way to their title.  It isn't often a team gets to the National Title without being challenged.  I'd say the Noles season is/was very rare.

And none of them have scored as many points as the Noles and I don't think you will find one that there closest game was 14 points during regular season. That was my point.

The argument that it is hard to tell how good the Noles team was because of their schedule is a fair one. I've never argued that they had a difficult schedule. I said to do what they did is rare (even those undefeated teams had close games against inferior opponents). Some can argue they had a really easy schedule and others will argue they blew those teams out of the water.

I also believe the Noles are the only NT team (don't know if that is just in the BCS era or not) to have 50th or worse strength of schedule and win NT title. Of course, we aren't discussing whether they deserved to win the title or not, but merely ranking NT winners.

As far as my point, I had none other then stating what they did was rare.

That 2000 Oklahoma team had a great defense and were solid on offense.  The didn't have the names that wow anybody they had a tough schedule and beat some great teams.
