What is wrong with the Jaguars franchise?

Maybe caldwell did tie his future to gus to get him the extension.

khan is probably shrpening the ax as we speak.

The owner is clueless when it comes to football operations.  Hopefully he chooses to keep or get the right GM and hopefully we get a good HC this time around.

If the Jags finish 2-14, which is very likely at this point, I don't see how you can possibly bring back Caldwell.  He's just as much to blame for the disastrous season as Gus.

If you're Khan and told him to keep Gus this year then how can you fire him?

I personally don't care one way or the other regarding Caldwell.  But, I do still believe that this team would be around .500 with a legit NFL HC.

Agreed, and if Khan is meddling like that then we could be screwed because he's clearly a bad judge.  Either Caldwell or Khan is a bad judge of leadership or the lackof.

Interesting thought, but it's more likely that Dave told Khan that he wanted to keep him another year to see what he could since the roster was now "built".

Dave is the "architect" of this dumpster fire of a team, so how can anyone blame it all on Gus and leave Dave blameless? Especially when it's clear that he's missed on so many top 5 draft picks and expensive free agents?

I think they just all decided to stick with the original plan and give Gus a fair chance with the roster they built. I wouldn't have done it but I get it. The next coach hire will be the action that shows us what they're made of.

I think the only thing that's clear is that Bradley needs to go. I believe the roster has more than enough talent to be middle of the road or better next year with a successful coach and scheme.

I wish Khan would sell the team to someone else at this point. Hes the problem with this team.

This franchise has had a terrible sense of timing. When Coughlin got us into salary cap hell and needed a fire sale we jettisoned the higher priced talent to get in under the cap. Then when Coughlin couldn't win with what he had we fired him.

Replace him with a first or second year DC in Del Rio who knew nothing about Head Coaching and he is going to the promised land with Leftwich. Too much patience with him and poor drafting gets him sentenced to Purgatory. Shack Harris is blamed for the poor talent so he gets shown the door.

A few more seasons of losing and we don't go after Peyton Manning when he's available. He might not have been here for long but he would have established a culture of winning. We pass on Andy Reid when he's available and hire another DC with no experience.

Two years after replacing experienced players with rookies we continue to give the keys to a coach going nowhere and making simple game day mistakes. His teams are undisciplined bumbling fumbling players who don't tackle well, don't lower the shoulder to get another couple yards, and don't know how to get off the field in time.

Does anyone here believe Tom Coughlin's team would have this many turnovers, or false start penalties?

Big statement there, would Andy Reid have a 2-11 team this year? With this roster? Hardly.

Some advice for the ducks: If a owner and gm of your favorite team comes out from the beginning and tell you wins don't matter to us for the first couple of years, run and don't support. Some of the dumbest words that can be spoken by people running a franchise to people paying for their product.

Gus. Gus created a "losing is acceptable" atmosphere. If our new Head Coach is a respected name with playoff experience, the players will be more focused on not making mistakes.... there isnt any accountability right now. Our teams most glaring weakness is in the game management and player development. Our guys struggles aren't being corrected and failing isnt fixed our punished. The players got to be as mad as the fans at what Gus has done this franchise.

I don't get the love for Caldwell.  He's busted on most of his top 5 draft picks AND a large percentage of his free agent acquisitions.  The defense can't pressure the QB or force turnovers, special teams is good for at least one blunder a game, and the offense is - offensive.

In fairness, I will admit that Caldwell seems to have done better recently, but when you have all those early draft picks and a ton of cap room, you "should" hit on some players.

The overall body of his work is not good though.

The only 1st rounder he scored on was Ramsey, and that fell in his lap to where it would be the all time dumbest pick if he passed on him.

I'm in the crowd that would be OK with Caldwell staying.  However, I think most us would have no heartburn if he was fired too.

The biggest argument for Caldwell is that any legit HC would have this team around .500.

I personally believe he has learned each year and became a better GM along the way.

I do hold him responsible for Bradley being a bust, and Bortles.  But with it being clear that he has grown as a GM, I think he will pick a better coach this time around.  I also think he would do better at finding a franchise QB (in all honesty, just about every GM misses on a QB).

While GMs always make mistakes, I just see too much potential and talent on this team not to give him credit.  If he was fired today, I think he'd have a job tomorrow with another team (unlike Jeans Miff).

Just my 2 cents.
