Rams extend, and then fire Jeff Fisher

Quote:Fisher has been fired according to various sources.

The fact that the Rams organization couldn't even wait until after Thursday Night's game in Seattle demonstrates how bad the situation has become with the Rams.

I can't see how this guy ever gets a HC gig again.  Maybe someone takes a shot at him as a DC eventually.

This just makes me hate Khan and Caldwell even more.

Right now,  my gut feeling is Jeff Fisher will never coach in the NFL again, even as an Assistant.    The contract extension he received earlier this season should provide him with more financial security.

That franchise is already in troubled waters in LA and it's only just begun.

They sure better hope they pick the right guy for a HC and that team starts winning soon.

I would have to agree.  Money shouldn't be a problem and I don't see an NFL team giving him a HC job and likely not a coordinator job either.  I could see him being a college HC, maybe, but only for the right offer I'm sure.

Cool. L.A can get a jump on the next young up and coming coach who wants to take over a pretty solid team while we wither away under uncle Gus.

I just heard today that in 21 seasons as a HC, fisher had 6 winning seasons. He might actually rival Gus as the worst head coach of all time.

The biggest problem for Rams fans is the team has an owner who seems much more concerned about the bottom line in terms of return on financial investment than winning.

My take on the Los Angeles market is winning is very important but also is being entertained.   IMO,  any NFL team in LA needs star power,  especially at the QB position.

This is very much my line of thinking.

If the USC job were to open,  I can picture Jeff FIsher being interested because of his roots with the school.

The season isn't even over and we're already losing the battle for picking the best available head coach.

OK let's go :

HC : Jeff Fisher

Assistant HC : Rex Ryan

DC : Gus Bradley

OC : Jedd Fisch

0-16, 2018 first overall pick !!!

I'm not so sure about that.

There are 10 kinds of people in this world.  Those who understand binary and those who don't.

I heard the same thing.

I also heard the stache is 10th in wins.

No, sorry. Gus is hands down the worst head coach in nfl history. Nobody else compares.

I think Jeff Fisher is in position to be selective.   Especially,  in the next couple of years.

Agreed, D6.  On both points.  If they end up with another .500 or below coach like Fisher I think they will end up with serious attendance problems.  Star power at the QB spot would certainly help too.

I could envision that too.  I don't think he would take a small school job because financially I can't imagine he would need to.  I'm sure he could and may end up with a broadcasting job at a network somewhere as well.  Going the Gruden route might be what he chooses to do.

Broadcasting would make a great deal of sense for Jeff Fisher.   Being that he had a weekly spot on NFL Sirius radio,   he's not like some coaches that do as little as possible when it comes to media obligations.   Fisher seems to like the spotlight.   It's one reason why I have doubts he will want to be a Coordinator at this point of his life.
