Supersonic travel may be back.

American Airlines has agreed to buy 20 Boom Supersonic Overture passenger jets, which are expected to carry passengers at twice the speeds of conventional passenger aircraft.

The world's largest airline, American Airlines made a nonrefundable deposit of an undisclosed amount on 20 Overture aircraft from Denver-based aerospace manufacturer Boom Supersonic. The Overture is designed to fly at speeds of up to Mach 1.7, or around 1,227 mph (1,975 kph). (Mach 1 represents the speed of sound.) The jets are projected to have a range of over 4,890 miles (7,870 kilometers) and could carry between 65 and 80 passengers from Paris to Montreal in just 3 hours and 45 minutes, according to Boom Supersonic(opens in new tab)...

is that time misleading? remember that you cross a number of time zones along the way. If that's 3:45 in the air, you may actually arrive at your destination before you took off!

I'm sure the fares will be well beyond my paygrade.

Yep, you would, assuming no connecting flights. Numerically, you'd land 2 hours and 15 minutes earlier than you took off.

You can do that already.  You can fly from Auckland, NZ, departing 8:15pm and arrive in Los Angeles at 1:20pm on the same day. 12 hours of flying to gain 7 hours in a day.  It's like flying in a DeLorean.

Lol.  We were working in there today and she apparently lives in there and walking to work.  2 guys saw her and I was too busy taking pics of a gator in a lake.  En route to the next lawn I was told about her and how “she counted as 2” (inside the truck joke).  We pass her, they weren’t lying!   Good freaking grief!

Been down here in Arlington Virginia since yesterday. A group I'm with was having their annual summer get together at a local bar this evening (Friday). After a few hours I decided it was time for me to take my leave and head back to the Hotel. SInce I wear hearing aids, the bsckground chatter is a little intensified and will give me a headache aftwer a while so..... Anyway, I called for an Uber to leave, I was picked up by a guy driving a Tesla of all things. I was impressed by this car. Nice ride, got up to highway speeds easily, and above all, quiet...... Just what I needed with the headache I had.....

Well the drought has ended.  Been pouring since last night.  Only problem is we could get 6-8 inches of rain in a 24 hour timespan.  Flood warnings abound.  Fortunately I live up on a hill.  Guaranteed the back nine will flood as there are a couple of creeks that run through it.  Looks like no golf practice before I leave for PA on Friday.

Your “summer’s worth of rain in 24 hours” made the news over here.  Sounds like it’s a little moist over there.  You’re so going to have to mow your lawn after this.  Hope you bought the pontoon attachment for for mower.

“Moist” and “pontoon” in the same post.  Sounds so dirty!

Yeah, I was hoping to hold out until Friday to mow since we’re leaving bright and early Saturday morning.  Can’t see that happening now.  Looks like it’s grown three inches since last night.

Somehow, that last sentence didn’t sound right.

Yeah, but if you switch the “p” and the “t”…..
It gets dirtier! …and something any man can appreciate. Perhaps it was the messenger, not the message.

Mom looks like a crack ho. Need to take those kids away forever.

Woman in Oklahoma climbs through sunroof, rescues 2-year-olds left in hot car at Walmart | Fox News

A woman in Oklahoma climbed through the sunroof of a vehicle parked outside a Walmart this week to rescue two 2-year-olds left inside, according to reports.

The vehicle was reportedly parked in direct sunlight during a 98-degree day.

Elizabeta Babb, 33, was arrested after she exited an Oklahoma City Walmart after shopping for over a half hour while her two toddlers were strapped in their car seats.

The 2-year-old girls were reportedly "unresponsive and buckled in their car seats" when they were found...

According to local reports, Walmart officials called for the driver of the vehicle to come outside, but Babb did not exit the store until she checked out...

Another strong argument for selective mandatory sterilization.

She can burn too. I can’t imagine much worse for a child. Helpless and suffocating on the intense heat. She’ll find out how it feels one day. Call it Karma, call it hell. People like that deserve it.

It's been my position for years that parents found guilty of child abuse should be given a plea deal. Face the consequences with likely prison time, or have the charges dropped or reduced (depending on the severity of the offense) by relinquishing the kids and undergoing sterilization.
