Sitting in the lounge of another Ford dealer waiting on getting the brake controller installed.  Hopefully, it turns out better than my experience last week.

I installed one in my last truck myself (2015 F150 Lariat).  Less than $100 and about 30 or so minutes to install and program the ECU.  The part that I installed was a genuine Ford part.

I thought about it.  My part was 109.00. Plus 40 for the whatever it was to program.  If i hadn’t already had this second appointment and a family wasn’t itching to take the travel trailer out, I probably would’ve done that.  It worked out though.  It’s been a week from hell and they put in a bed bolt that the spray in liner people screwed up at no cost.  Now all I need to do is weight for my wait distribution hitch to come in and I’ll be ready.  <—should have saved that last line for the learning English thread.

After almost a decade of using my bathroom scale, turns out I can just step on it and it’ll work. All these years I’ve been tapping it first. Go figure.

Full disclosure, lawn work makes one stupid whether they were to begin with or not. After well over a decade I’m now stupid and have zero social skills. I was not anticipating an actual conversation. I’ve found people don’t have time to talk. Wasn’t prepared for you to tell me what’s up. Hence the “get better man” . Thank god I have a social teacher in a really good employee.

Nothing is going to change until at least my next appointment on 6/10, unless it's for the worse.  So I guess no change is good.  I'm bored silly but all if status quo. They'll do xrays and an MRI at the next appointment and then they'll let me know what's next. Hopefully I'll be allowed to start physical therapy  and put some weight on it if all goes well.

I go on vacation next Wednesday up to PA.  I wouldn't go, but it's my wife's birthday and we are having a big shindig and I've already shelled out a bunch of money to have it catered.  Not to mention there are 40+people that have already RSVP'ed.  So canceling wasn't really an option.  i have no idea how I am going to manage my stepdaughter's house as, like most houses up north, it is a split-level.  I'll have to figure it out after I get there.  At least I'll get wheelchair assistance and boarding priority in the airport.      <---- And that's about the only dancing that I can do.

Lived up in Pa for a while. I know what you mean. Here’s to hoping they love you enough to get the Acorn Stairlift. Not that I feel youd use it, but more so as a “we love you, dad’ gesture. ,

So, I rented a torque wrench to tighten a bolt to 430 lbs. and a few other bolts higher than the one I have goes up to. My back hurts just looking at this this thing.

The torque wrench was about 3 and a half feet long.   Turns out going up to 430 was pretty easy.  I wasn’t so worried about just tightening it.  I was more worried about tightening it to the correct specifications.  Otherwise I would’ve just used a breaker bar.

A day in the life

A few times I've helped torque the Jesus nuts (insert joke here) on a CH-47 Chinook helicopter. The torque value isn't ginormous, around 450 lb-ft, IIRC, but it has to be done with a torque multiplier. Imagine applying that much force to a nut about 8" across using only a 3/8" drive. It's a workout.
