It would be nice to be able to row through the gears with that much power underneath. It's amazing how much more efficient modern cars are compared to older hot rods. Electronically controlled shift points and anti-lock brakes make huge differences. I'm a fan of the show Road Kill. On occasion they'll take an old hopped up body-on-frame 60s muscle car and run it through a course against something like a modern Kia. Most of the time the Kia wins because the older cars are so difficult to control. On the strip, a modern muscle car absolutely eviscerates old stock stuff. Modern Mopars are ridiculously powerful. I'm not a Dodge fan but I would take a Challenger or a Charger in a heart beat for a straight line car. I really like the current Mustangs. They're low and wide and sleek but still look like a Mustang. Camaros aren't bad but Chevy designed them too boxy. While they do pay homage to the 1st generation cars, it just didn't translate as well as Dodge and Ford were able to accomplish with theirs. It seems I read somewhere that Camaros will stop being produced this year, or next. They're just not selling well. |
