What evil on-screen Hollywood actor/actress was kind and sweet in real life?
Burton Gilliam played Lyle, the guy who harassed Cleavon Little in Blazing Saddles. In the movie, he had to call him the N word. Gilliam HATED using that word with Cleavon Little, because he was fond of Little and was proud to be working with him. He couldn’t bring himself to say the word. Cleavon Little took him aside and basically told him it was all right because he knew it wasn’t really him saying it, it was the character. He assured him it was all right and not to worry about it. You know trouble is right around the corner when your best friend tells you to hold his beer!!
