Not a big surprise. Guy hasn't been having the best of seasons this year.

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

Still a but surprised they just straight cut him. He's not as bad as Meyers was last year lol

Most likely,  Blair Walsh wasn't able to overcome the 27 yard missed FG against the Seahawks in the playoffs that sent the Vikings into the off-season.

Blair Walsh' contract and early career performance almost certainly kept him around longer than most kickers until a similar circumstance.

The irony of what you mentioned is the Vikings likely wish they had Jason Myers.   Things sure can change quickly in the National Football League.

It seems like everyone is blaming his struggles on that, but most kickers are able to just move on and play the next season like nothing happened. The miss was not even Blair Walsh's fault.

  Whose fault was the miss?

Regarding the first part of what you mentioned,   Blair Walsh appears to be an exception to the rule and is now unemployed as a result.

Jeff Locke did not turn the laces out. Ironically he made the same mistake earlier in the game and Blair Walsh made that try anyway.

Those are mistakes on Jeff Locke's part.   Despite that, a 27 yard FG needs to be made under that condition.   That much more with the season on the line.

Maybe the pressure of being a do-or-die play had something to do with it.

That's exactly what D6 has been saying this whole time.

Apparently Kai Forbath will replace Blair Walsh.

  Thank you!

Back in 2012,  Blair Walsh was 10 for 10 as a rookie on FGs from 50 yards or longer.  Now,  he can't be counted on routine kicks and he even didn't execute a kickoff the way he was told 9 days ago.   Whether Walsh can turn things around if given another opportunity remains to be seen.  It's definitely not a given.

Jeff Locke and LS Kevin McDermott were teammates with Kai Forbath at UCLA.   I think this was the primary reason why the Vikings elected to go with Kai Forbath.

Kai Forbath was one of the six kickers Minnesota worked out to make Blair Walsh mad before the Redskins game.

That's what made today's transaction easier,  being that he had a tryout last week.

In 20/20 hindsight, why didn't they cut Walsh last week?

My guess is because of his past performance level and contract.
