So the oh so important captain designations have been made.

We can only hope that naming these captains came about with more discernment than naming me a moderator.

Blake not being voted as a team captain by his teammates have any real meaning. Curious if anyone thinks it matters. Me personally, I think the whole captain things means squat!

It has more symbolic meaning than anything else. They aren't going to play worse because Bortles isn't a captain, but clearly the players don't view Blake as the leader of this team. Considering he had this honor last season and the roster, especially the offensive personnel, have barely changed, it speaks to the players not really believing that he's the guy.

I'm sure someone will fixate on that and turn it into something much bigger than it actually is.  We've got a lot of characters on this board vying for the queen of drama.

Marcedes being the elder statesman of the offense probably means more than anything.

He has been in Jacksonville longer than any other current players dating back to when JDR was there. However, that alone did not give him the C patch, as evidenced by another guy on offense wearing it last year. When he did wear it before, so did Blake Bortles.
