Telvin Smith extended.

Great he deserves it.

There aren't that many 4-3 WLBs in the NFL anymore. Jamie Collins is not one of them, BTW. He plays SAM for the browns and was a 3-4 OLB before that. Bad comparison.

Lavonte David was previously the highest paid weak side linebacker that I am aware of playing in a traditional 4-3 defense.

He is paid 10 million a year.

So, yes, 11 million dollars per year for Telvin to play WLB in a 4-3 defense is expensive.  He's probably worth it in the long run, but it makes him the highest paid at his position to my knowledge.

You really should learn to compose your posts without any condescending tone.  The fact that you are often condescending coupled with the fact that you frequently have no idea what you are talking about is THE reason why people give you such a hard time.

Work on cutting out the condescension please, as a favor to me and to yourself.

To be fair, SAM is technically an OLB and when I originally mentioned contracts (where JDub is referring to Collins) I posted 4-3 OLB salaries, in which Collins is the highest, followed by Burfict who is also a SLB. Then you have Telvin, then David.

Of ALL LBs, Telvin is 7th, which is still cheaper than the talk of tagging him would have been. He may be the highest paid as a WLB, but it's not vastly more or even really out of line. He likely would have gotten more on the open market.
IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS

Usually this is correct unless that player can make game changing plays from that position. Telvin does. He can effective the game from that spot and that what makes him special. You re-sign game changers.

And you pay more money to game-changers. I don't know why people think we are overpaying a very good WLB.

I am assuming Telvin is going to earn most of whatever is in his contract that kicks it to the 4/50 level. I think it's fair to consider Telvin the top paid off ball OLB in the league.

Where are you getting 50 from?

It is great to see excellence rewarded.
Respect the game.  Play with a sense of urgency.

1.)  Take care of the ball.  Win the turnover battle.

2.)  It's all about 3rd down.  Win on 3rd down to win the game.

3.) Playmakers make plays.  The only reason that you put your uniform on is to make plays. In order to EARN your paycheck, you must make plays.

Learn from the great collapse of 2023.

He can't hit any of his receivers. Even Jordy Nelson. If Hundley can't get him the ball, how is he supposed to be successful? Adams successes/failures should not be attached to Hundley at all.

Do I need to say it again? Waiting until after the bye week will give you a slightly better picture of Brett Hundley's chemistry with the receivers and starting offensive line.

I am a huge UCLA fan. I watched Hundley throughout his college career. I already know Hundley's limitations as a QB. He's will never be a good pro QB.

I never thought he will be a good NFL quarterback, but am holding out hope talent around him can cover up some of his limitations.

I'm not. I only have one favorite NFL team and it's the Jags. Every other team can collapse as far as I'm concerned.

Playmakers make plays. Telvin is a playmaker. Glad to see him get his due, he has definitely earned it. His leadership skills are off the charts, as is his motor and competitiveness.

He also is tough and durable. Exactly what I want in an OLB except for his struggles to stop the run.
