NFL history was made in a weird (and bad) way the last  two weekends:

 

*Lowest scoring OT tie (12 points)

*First international OT game

 

These historical facts may not be important, but the results are. Players and coaches don't know if the glass is half full or half empty because all four teams have eight more games to play. The current standings:

 

AFC North

Steelers (4-3)

Bengals (3-4-1)

Ravens (3-4)

Browns (0-8)

 

NFC East

Cowboys (6-1)

Giants (4-3)

Eagles (4-3)

Redskins (4-3-1)

 

NFC West

Seahawks (4-2-1)

Cardinals (3-4-1)

Rams (3-4)

49ers (1-6)

 

At the halfway point of the season, we know a lot can happen to affect the playoff races in both conferences. However, the way things are shaping up now, it is looking like the Redskins and Cardinals will fight for wild card spots, maybe the same spot, with other NFC teams that have a zero in the tie column. It is less clear for the Bengals, who trail the division-leading Steelers by only half a game during Pittsburgh's bye. It will be interesting to see how this plays out in the second half of the season.
