The Jags Nearly Overcame an Impossible Situation Sunday

#1

I hate to be "that guy", but when I see something so unbelievably blatant, I feel like I have to point it out.

This past Sundays game was a set up and has Roger Goodell all over it. The league tricked us into thinking we had some momentum, then shipped us across the country to play a game in domed stadium and in a completely different time zone. Sure ship us to a domed stadium OR ship us to the west coast, but for crying out loud Goodell not both - that's just unfathomable. While I understand that this time of year is only a two hour difference between Jacksonville and Phoenix, I think it's important to point out that the Jags did not start playing well until roughly two hours into the game. Coincidence? I most definitely think not.  It's one thing to force us to play the most difficult schedule in all of the NFL, but complete shenanigans to pull this garbage. The wear and tear on the Jags due completely to this ridiculous  travel schedule is evident, and will be something we will need to overcome if we are to host a playoff game and get a first round bye. That said, I hope next year Goodell has the courage to send Arizona to Jacksonville - or better yet London. No possible way the NFL completion committee would approve this!

Does anyone know what happened to Kirsten Grohs, who now appears to be the  former Contract Research and Salary Cap Analyst? Initially, when we mismanaged and lost the game on Sunday, the first person I thought to blame was her, but then when I did some research this morning she appears to no longer be on the website. If in fact Mr. Khan and his staff eliminated her position after Sundays debacle, then I guess this sends a clear and pointed message to the rest of the franchise. I probably would not have been so harsh - assuming she was terminated. Perhaps they are just disciplining her by taking her off of the website for a couple of weeks. Hard to tell. I understand that players make plays, but when researching salaries and analyzing our salary cap, we needed to take into consideration that if we are going to throw the ball on second down in the waning moments of a game when the opponent is out of time outs  as opposed to just running the clock out and playing for OT, then we need to have players who can throw and catch. While I certainly don't pretend to understand the intricacies and complexities of Ms. Grohs position, or possibly former position, this would seem to be an important piece when presenting information to Owner Khan and Mr. Tom Coughlin.

So now we appear to be in complete disarray heading into what can only be described as our most important game ever on Sunday.  This is where I am so thankful we have the leadership and talents of Blake Bortles to get us through what is a must win game vs. The upstart and hungry Colts.

The only saving grace from this past weekend is that for the first time in years, we are games ahead in the Ponce De Leon Cup. The Ponce De Leon Cup of course is awarded to the NFL team in Florida who finishes the regular season with the best record. The award is named after the former Spanish Conquistador Juan Ponce De Leon, who discovered La Florida (now referred to as Florida) in 1513.

Standings:

The Jags 7-4
Miami 4-7
Tampa Bay 4-7

A Jags win this week coupled with Tampa and Miami would all but assure the Jags at least a tie for first place, and the Jags hold the first two tiebreakers!

Kirsten Grohs has been a cancer to the organization! I hope she is picked up by Miami and she can send them into the toilet.

Don't trust Canadians.  Probably thought the cap was in Loonies.

Kirsten is coming to Nebraska I hear, said she had 'unfinished business.'

Yes, it's improvement, but it's Blaine Gabbert 2012 level improvement. - Pirkster
