First of all:  The way he was running in the first half wasn't that great.

The first time Fournette ran for more than 3 yards, it came with 1:53 left to play in the first quarter. They ran it out of a set featuring 3 WR and a TE after Blake had just converted consecutive first downs through the air. That opened up the middle and he got six yards. After that he had a run for 13 yards out of a 3WR/2RB set, 3 runs for 4 yards each, and a bunch of nothing before the half ended. The other runs were for  0,1,1,2,2,2,3 yards.  (avg 3.5 yds per carry in 1st half)

Many of the good things that happened offensively came out of a two back set with 3 receivers. This is how they lined up for Fournette's 13 yard run.

They had just thrown to Grant out of this formation recently for a big gain - so he got the attention and 27 was able to weave behind Cann and Parnell for 13 yards.

They scrapped this in the second half and dared NE to stop the run out of mostly power formations.
That was a mistake.

They ran that formation (or one very similar) at least 3-4 times in that first half and every time the play went to a different player. They had the Pats on their heels in the 1st half and they had no clue who was getting the ball from that line up, or where the play was going.

Yes. That's my point. The pats weren't stopping it and the Jags stopped running it.  It's a complete mystery to me why they'd practically abandon that the way they did.

They did run a few times (2 or 3)  from a 3WR set in the second half, but they either had one back or they had #27 plus the FB. Not Grant. Grant's speed was making that formation tough to defend. Three wide plus a power back and a scat-back is a very multiple look for a defense to cover effectively.

Bortles also made a couple of iffy choices on the option stuff out of that set in the second half  (if it were indeed up to him and not predetermined.)
The worst of which was when they faked the end-around and ran up the middle for no gain when the end-around was open for a huge gain. On another - he gave to Fournette when he could have kept it and thrown or run to the right easily. The lane was open as was the TE.

Oh well. I hope they see the film of those good plays in the first half and build on that.

The formation that was working so well was this or some variation of this:

Lee    Lewis     LT-LG-C-RG-RT             Westbrook or Cole
                     Grant
                               Bortles     Fournette
