I think you might be right if we weren’t very clearly in “win now” mode.

I think the front office must be very aware that if they’re going to win anything with this defense, they have to do it in the next few years.

Sure, it would be nice to extend that window by adding the next Calais Campbell or Marcel Dareus, but I’m pretty sure the focus will be on picking players who can play straight away and improve our chances of winning a Super Bowl.

And with the team intent on running the football you’d probably expect the pick to be an offensive lineman.

And failing that a TE or WR to improve our offense elsewhere.

Of course if someone amazing falls to us then they’ll take him, but I don’t think we’re far off the mark in expecting it to be OL, TE or WR at 29.
