All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.

For the more equal

just as an aside, if I were a taxpayer in CA or NY I would be really mad that every time someone advocates socialism or big governments they point to Nordic countries thousands of miles away like I am a disappointing child we need to pretend doesn't exist.

Just a hunch. You don't understand what socialism, racism, or any other ism actually means.

In the end they all mean "white man bad."

Sure they do, but those definitions have little to do with the common usage by the left. You guys just use them interchangeably to whine about your lives and blame other people for your personal failures, not incidently always from a place of some of the greatest wealth, opportunity, and, dare I say, privilege humanity has ever known. It would be funny if it wasn't so damn pathetic and contemptible.

Getting special privileges to elected officials has nothing to do with socialism.
California is not any more of a socialist place than the rest of the US.
It is corrupt and mismanaged, though.

If you're using the original definition of socialism as government running business, then California is no more a socialist place. But if you're using the Bernie Sanders AO-C definition of socialism as being a welfare state ala Norway (or Venezuela which was used as a shining example before until they started denying it) then California is very much a Sanders-style socialist state, with high taxes being redistributed to the poor, including millions of people illegally in the US.

And yes, corruption is more prominent with socialism, partly because the ruling class has a lot more of other people's money to funnel to themselves and their cronies.

Yes, original definition socialism definitely creates more opportunities for corruption.  No denying that.

California's state income tax is skewed to the rich, moreso than Florida property taxes.  A lot of the stuff that Florida pays with its property taxes, California pays with their income tax.  But on the spending side, California is not significantly more generous to the poor or to immigrants when compared to Florida.  Remember, most of that stuff is decided at the federal level.
