Let me simplify...  If the GDP is so amazing, how can Trump cite the current economy as his justification for retracting the annual raise for civilian federal workers?

Because the salary for Federal workers comes out of the Federal budget. The economy is doing well, but the budget isn't. Surely you know that since you've been complaining about the deficit.

Workers in private industry are getting raises because 1) businesses are making more profit and in many companies management wants to share that, and 2) workers are shopping around for better paying jobs now that the job market has tightened. If Federal workers want better paying jobs they can shop their services too. If they're too lazy to do that, then they deserve no raise.
