Of course you wouldn't you the word squishy, it's an accurate picture of your willingness to compromise basic principles in the spirit of collaboration. My principles have been the same for decades now, regardless of what the political parties are [BLEEP] up at the moment. It's why folks like me will never be in a majority party, we don't play well with others. I'm enjoying Trump's puppet show and his policies so far I agree with for the most part, but I don't clamour for leadership or rhetoric, I don't need it; I just want to be left alone. That's the difference in you and me, I already know I can't change human nature or the world.

No one's going to change human nature.  Some people are going to change the world.  Most of us in democratic republics get to at least have some influence over the people who change the world.  It's a small amount of influence, sure, but it's not zero unless you throw it away.  You seem to be throwing yours away, which is your right.
