Marquise Lee update

#1

Quote: That's my goal, for sure," Lee said. "As far as what the trainers got, I don't know what their plan is. But as far as me, I should be back by the first game."

Lee suffered a torn ACL during the first quarter against Atlanta on Aug. 25 when safety Damontae Kazee hit him squarely in the knee with his helmet while making a tackle. Lee underwent surgery a few days later to repair the injured ligament as well as a previously torn PCL, he said.

I just hope he's got a QB that doesn't throw behind him all the time and an OC that can utilize his skill set.
Glad he's on track to at least try to earn the contract.

When I read the thread title, I half expected to read about someone running into him at Publix, and that he was 91% recovered.

I'd hope he would be back by training camp. Isn't this a 9 month injury?

The timeline may be a little longer since he had his PCL repaired as well. I’m surprised he was able to play with the PCL tear.

I expect to see a much improved Lee with an accurate QB throwing him the ball.

Any context with this? Back to practicing in late preseason? or back to playing in late preseason?

How is rehab going for Marqise?

Marrone:
Good. He's been training in California. He comes in for checkups. He says he feels good. We know it's going to be maybe late in preseason before he's going 100 %. But I don't know...
Every time I talk to him he's feeling better, he's got a smile on his face and he's dying to get back.
When you see injured players with that mentality it makes you feel good as a coach.
We lost a lot when lost him. He was our leading third down receiver. He's a guy that will go in there and get tough and get dirty.

Expectations for Marqise ?  We have high expectations -  he has high expectations for himself.

I haven't been a Lee fan but he was who I wanted when we drafted him he just hasn't lived up to the player I thought he would be. I will say this though, if he comes back 100% being he is the best WR in the league at running those crossers along with Folse accuracy, he might have the best season of his career

Who remembers this stat? He was far and away better than any WR in the league at the crossers with Bortles at QB and Foles is one of the most accurate at it and gets the ball off a lot quicker. Gonna be a deadly combo with Hockenson running up the seam

Not far and away the best, but still the best none the less

His inside cut move helps him get great separation on those crossers and in routes.
Pained me to see how consistently the ball was thrown behind him on those.

I have no idea how DeFilippo will work those routes into his playbook, but I'd be surprised if they didn't take advantage of Lee's ability to get open consistently on crossers and in-routes.

I like how Lee will be ready late in the Preseason as opposed to the start of the Preseason. That keeps him out of the first few Preseaosn games allowing him a chance to actually be active for a few weeks of the regular season before going on IR the rest of the year. Maybe he'll even last the entire month of September.
