Words like oversee, approve, and final say would make me think he has a ton of influence on the guys we are interviewing, and ultimately hiring.

I don't think this 2 year old blurb tells us anything new, and I don't think it means he's not allowing Marrone to lead the way in hiring his own staff. 

If Coughlin is indeed running a dictatorship with Marrone's staff we have a big problem.
I'd hate to think Coughlin is going full dictator mode with this franchise. Doesn't bode well.

I don't see any evidence of that as of now.  I just see a team with no QB having an understandably hard time landing an OC.


Do you remember Coughlin’s first stint here? Dictatorship is putting it nicely. I hope this isn’t the case either but there is evidence beginning to show this is exactly what is happening. The hiring of position coaches before an OC is exhibit A.
