You implied that they weren't much of a burden on their communities. Then listen schools and emergency rooms to further support it. The problem is that few illegals pay property taxes for schools and fewer pay their ER bills.

How exactly does a resident, lawful or otherwise, avoid paying property tax?! Do you think landlords pay property tax out of their own pocket? Out of the goodness of their hearts?

If they haven’t purchased the land, then they aren’t paying property taxes. Since most of the schools’ budget is from property taxes then many are not contributing to the cost of educating their children.

Moreover, even if u grant indirect property taxes through rentals all in all the illegal population is not a net contributor to tax revenue accounting for all the services we provide.

And I'm struggling to find a time in us history where we just threw up our hands and seeded our sovereignty through some faux guilt and declared that migrant caravans had more constitutional legitimacy than the chief executive. Please elaborate.

I think the point was ... If you are paying rent, you are paying property tax. It is built into the rent by the owner who then pays the government.

Now, about those poor couples who can't have children. Watching tiny little children being picked up in the bus they are helping fund. Brutal.

Anybody who wanted to immigrate to the US could until the 1880s. That was when we first tried to stop Chinese people from coming.

There's a significant contextual difference between the conscious decision for more immigration during the countries infancy and the current progressive decision of "dully passed laws be forgotten.  Our good feelings are more important than the safety and security of the country"

And immigration policy comparisons pre and post introduction of the welfare state, well, I don't have to tell u.

That was indeed the point. On the flip side, liberals will argue the exact opposite when it comes to Corporate taxes, which just highlights the hypocrisy of the argument.

Immigration in the 1800s when there was no social safety net is obviously a different scenario than today. Modern day welfare programs and open borders don't work. Especially in a country like ours where we've already outsourced much of the manufacturing base. Opening borders just increases the dependency class and increases the burden on those who aren't wealthy. If opening borders makes us a stronger country, why wouldn't we just fly in the world's poor? Why wouldn't every developed nation?

There was a social safety net in the 1800's.
Everyone joined societies and clubs and insurance schemes that would pay out in the case of unemployment or injury or disability.
We still see these societies today, even though none of them serve this purpose anymore. they include the knights of Columbus, the various Italian American and other ethnic American clubs that are around, the Lions club, etcetera.
All of these places had to really cut back on the safety-net stuff when the great depression hit them, and many went bankrupt leaving their members with nothing.
Even so, none of these places would just help you for showing up. They might give you some used blankets and a cup of soup but if you needed more help than that, well, you should have been paying your dues when times were good.
the government-run social Security program and the government-run unemployment program are direct replacements for these private programs that were overwhelmed in the great depression. And they operate on the same principle: nobody gets help who did not previously pay in.
The question we should be asking ourselves, program by program, is which of these programs invite freeloaders, and which merely help people who have previously paid in.
I think if we worked on that problem first, and sought to first understand, and then minimize, the freeloading, we would feel a lot more comfortable about immigration, like we did in the 19th century perhaps.

Moving the goal posts again. Why do the Chinese not have unfettered access to the nation anymore?

Government asks for power to mitigate risk in economy.
Government uses said power.
Government causes and the prolongs the worst economic collapse in the history of the country.

What's the solution?  MORE GOVERNMENT!!!

let's give them full authority to confiscate our money because OBVIOUSLY Acadia cortez can spend it better than we can.

There is no paid in, there's paid to others.  If you don't understand that then u don't understand the problem.

The first question you should be asking is ARE THEY SOLVENT.  FULL STOP.

Then u should ask, well gee.  Are the millions of people that we force to participate in these programs better off than when we started.

Social security is a joke compared to open end investment companies.
State run welfare helped contribute to the cultural collapse of the black family that has caused child poverty in geometric progression.  But by all means keep taking my money for your warm fuzzy feelings facts be darned...

St. Helena and Zinfandel Lane love them some guest workers. The fourth richest Californian is not addressing border security because here wine industry lobbyists would fry her!
