2020 Democratic Presidential Candidates

I saw an interview on FOX Business this morning with a small business owner in Texas.  He was a middle aged Hispanic man that owns and runs a Barbecue restaurant in a blue area of Texas.  He says that business for him has been very good over the last 3 years and even though he is a democrat he said that he likes what President Trump has done for the area and has his vote.  A few of his customers (also Hispanic if it matters) shared the same feelings.  The biggest thing that they talked about was the possibility of the "Green New Deal" and how it would kill jobs in the area.

The other thing to think about is the large Cuban community in South Florida.  They will not vote for somebody that praises Castro.

If Bernie is the nominee, Florida is not in play.  Has nothing to do with Cubans.  Has everything to do with black voters and retired voters.  Bernie has a chance to win the presidency because he might flip PA, OH, and MI.  But he won't flip FL.  Biden could flip Florida.

That said, I'm married into a S FL Cuban family, and I can tell you the conventional wisdom there is becoming less true.  The ones who came over before about 1990 seem to be very loyal to the Republican party, but the ones who came after are not loyal to either party.  It seems to have to do with whether or not the person experienced Cuba after the Soviets cut off the fuel subsidies. The second and third generations also have little loyalty either way.  Anyhow, every cycle the number of cold war stalwarts shrinks and the second group grows.

Yeah, Bernie is going to flip the Rust Belt, lol.

How exactly does Bernie have the chance to flip PA, OH and MI?  Retired voters?  I don't think so.  Most people at or near retirement know what socialism is all about if they have been informed the past 30-40 years.

The three northern states I named have more younger, left leaning voters, and voters who work in heavy industry.  Those people are likely to like Bernie.
The people at or near retirement are more scared of "socialism", especially the ones who are able to move to FL for their retirement.
My fellow southpaw Mark Brunell will probably always be my favorite Jaguar.

So....are the Democratics still trying this election thing?

Haha. That’s cute.

I'm getting a little woozy watching the Democrat loser parade trying to line up behind Uncle Joe. Beta O'Mexican is now Joe's point man on taking our guns away? That should work out about as well as Beta's campaign did.

Speaking of Democrats, I see old “thrill up the leg” retired under duress.

In his defense, Francis is a white man who used the nickname Beto to make people think he wasn't white.

Care to explain what is racist about his comment?  Seriously.  You can either post here or contact me via PM.  You also have the report feature that would alert all of the moderators regarding the post.

How about the whole story?  His name is Robert Francis O'Rourke.  "Beto" is a Hispanic slang term for the name Robert (Roberto in Spanish).  It is very possible that he had this nickname growing up in El Paso, Texas.  While he is white and doesn't have any Latino blood in him it's possible that this nickname was given to him since he was a child.  There aren't a whole lot of white people in El Paso.

There are 10 kinds of people in this world.  Those who understand binary and those who don't.

Well, I certainly wasn't trying to offend anyone...except Beto.
It was a reference to his childhood nickname, his tendency to erupt into Spanglish, the fact that he campaigns in Mexico for a job in the USA, etc.

I somewhat agree.  However, I think that much of Bernie Sanders' following is mostly the younger, "less experienced" voting bloc or those that just can't stand President Trump.  I don't think many "traditional" democrats would vote for him including my parents (lifelong democrats).

Being that Florida is a large battleground state,  there's no question that the Cuban population in South Florida could be the difference in the outcome of a Donald Trump vs. Bernie Sanders Presidential Race in the state and overall.

I agree that there are other segments in the Democrat Party, including the ones you described would be very reluctant to vote for Bernie Sanders.

Yet, even with the above heavily factored in,  the youth vote and older hard core Liberal Democrats view Bernie Sanders'  as their ideal candidate.  'Social Justice' and Made Man Climate Change are core issues with the vast majority of these individuals.   He also likely will get the overwhelming majority of the Muslim vote.

When combining the passion of these segments and the hate for President Trump amongst these individuals,  I think there's plenty to be concerned about if Sanders wins the nomination.  That much more if Michael Bloomberg decides to donate a massive amount of money to Sanders'  campaign ( through a PAC ), which can't be ruled out when considering Bloomberg's opinion of Trump.

Biden down big, all of a sudden others drop out and all the voters then pick Biden? Yeah that seems likely. How can anyone trust another poll put out by the media ever again if they can't even get it right for democrats?

It looks like he will win easily unless Sanders picks up CA & TX.

Biden went from less then 10% likely to get the nomination to more than 50% likely in 3 days. Yeah, the fix is in and they don't even bother to hide it.

The problem with this is...Joe Biden.

Is anyone surprised by the result tonight so far?

One final thought. Obama stayed silent for a long time on Biden. Curious if he finally gives his endorsement or saves it for Hillary when she jumps in.

The real loser tonight is Hunter Biden.
