I don’t know the Georgia law specifically, but there are lots of states that say that if you’re in the driver’s seat, you’re operating the vehicle, period. You can be guilty of DUI even if the car is turned off with the keys in the center console.

Last I checked, Florida law is extremely strict on DUI.
If you think you might have had too many, and you just want to go in your car to grab something before you call a taxi,
Reach in through the passenger door, in case a cop might be watching.
Also, riding a bike counts as a motor vehicle for the purposes of DUI law.
If you need to get home while you're still inebriated, your legal choices are walking and calling somebody to come get you.

I don't know why Black Lives Matter acolytes feel that they are the only ones to have had bad encounters with law enforcement.

EVERYBODY HAS HAD BAD EXPERIENCES WITH LAW ENFORCEMENT.

You think you're unique, crybabies? Cops are [BLEEP] and are trained to be [BLEEP].

So show some respect, stop your aggression and you'll be released to live another day.

He technically was parked when the DUI officer arrived. The responding officer woke him up and got him to move his car from the drive thru lane to a parking spot.

Can we at least change the thread title to have the correct spelling of his name?

Think somebody was in a hurry to blame the guy who died.

These same people after a mass shooting "it's too soon to politicise it"

What makes you think he won’t steal the gun next time? If he tases that cop, he can do whatever he wants to him. Is that really what we’re suggesting here? Do we really believe that cops should allow their attackers to tase them now?

if someone punches a cop and steals his baton should you shoot him dead?

If he turns around to use it, then shoot him. What would you do?

Circumstances matter. Did this person start hitting the cop with the baton? Is he charging another person with the baton raised to strike? If yes, shoot. If they just took the baton and made a run for it, I don’t see how you justify shooting someone who’s running away and not posing an immediate threat. That’s what tasers and backup are for.

Tasers can hit you from 10-15 feet too, so that dude doesn’t have to be really close to get you with it.

You only have to be in control of the vehicle. However that’s articulated is up to the officer.  Most don’t make cases unless you operated it just before, i.e. driving it to the Wendy’s and passing out in the drive through means you drove it drunk.

Not kill a person.

where did that video come from?  I think its egregious to just cut off the video before he assaulted two officers and stole a taser.  This is again perpetuating the idea that these two officers just randomly killed him because of their negro quota for the month.

I really struggle understanding people who buy into promises of perfection. Every issue that elevates socialist policies is based on the lie that our system is bad, but their system will be perfect. It doesn't matter that we live in a nation of 350 million people and have extremely low rates of police brutality, racism, and violence. That we have achieved relatively low rates of crime. That we live in one of the most diverse countries on the planet. That our poorest people are among the wealthiest in the world. That socialism has failed every where it's been tried. That there will be no nation to save us from tyranny should this new Utopia fail us. None of that matters, because people get sold a product that exploits emotions and promises us perfection, with zero proof.

I owe you an apology.
I took your requests for reasonable conversation as sincere, and then when you didn't meet my standard of reasonable-ness, I hammered you pretty hard.
But now I see that you were not sincere, and that it was really a feint to introduce your point of view that political narratives are mostly being written by crypto-socialists/communists/leninists/anarchists/Baathists. As if internet message boards needed another John Birch acolyte.
I should have recognized it sooner and I'm sorry for bothering you at all.
