Trump to cut funds to schools that don't reopen

A lot of schools can't stand to have any more reduced funding, they are struggling as it is. I do wonder what directions schools will take as fall approaches regarding possibly reopening.

I was with some people the other day and they were talking to a high school principal. She was talking about some of the plans that schools may have to implement as we are continuing to deal with this virus. She her and other educators were discussing like three plans right now including kids going back to school like they have in the past, (though there could be changes due to the virus), schools going with completely virtual online learning for the time being, or an option where there are A/B days, where some kids attend school one day, some attend school another day. She said they are also waiting on what the governor of NC's guidance. She and some other people started talking about the problems that could worsen if the government decided to go to an all virtual education for students.

It was brought up that there are rural counties in NC, that don't have good access to internet and that is definitely impacting children't ability to learn virtual. There are families that can't afford internet and even for some that can, like the one mentioned in this article below, they live in areas where it's not very accessible. The young man in this family has to try and complete many assignments in places like Mcdonald's parking lots.

I could see this continuing to be a big problem for students if NC and possibly other states are as well decide to continue all virtual learning. And some children will fall behind as result of it. I understand people are concerned but now that fear is spilled down to the younger and least vulnerable groups of people, (school age children). Children have definitely spread other viruses like the flu viruses and colds.

But thankfully it looks like a lot kids in this age range (5-18, or younger if they are in preschool) haven't severely (or possibly even mildly) infected/impacted by COVID-19. There are examples of those that have but the most part kids in this range have been fine. I think that schools could operate on some level (and some changes) with kids going back, even if it an A/B day type of thing. Or maybe just have them go only a couple of days a week or something.

The high school principal that we were talking with the other day, also mentioned that a lot people including teachers could lose their jobs if schools in our area/the state go to all virtual learning. I think that she said as high as like 60% could. (I think I heard that correctly.) If that's the case that is pretty bad and will put even more people out of work longer term.
