Elite staff

(This post was last modified: 01-21-2021, 02:30 PM by Upper.)

Pair it up with Hewitt as DC and I think our defensive staff might just be elite.

Welp, whoever thought Baalke might just be a one year placeholder like what the Panthers just did need to go back to the drawing board.

Love the Cullen signing and just because he has along contract doesn't mean Urban won't have the final say.

I have such a bad feeling about these 2 running the show here... I wanna be wrong so bad, I reallllly do. It just reeks of same old dumpster fire level decision making.

Darn Cullen is coming as DC hopefully that doesn't affect getting Hewitt too since the original rumors were Hewitt as DC and Cullen as some kind of dline coordinator title.

Can’t imagine Cullen making a lateral move, I’d bet he is the new DC.

I like the Cullen move a lot. That Ravens DL was very good, and they actually blitz a lot. Also, they run a 3-4

Yeah sounds like we lost Hewitt that sucks. Was really hoping for that Ravens double dip. But Cullen is fine and thank god we're finally rid of Wash!

Right?  So glad we have a DC whose name is not Wash.

So am I supposed to throw a [BLEEP] fit over this hire or like it? I need input.

I think Cullen is a good hire. Doubly so as it means Wash is gone

I think Jaguar fans are supposed to be in a constant state of flailing.

Our personnel is geared for a 3-4. I don't see why that wouldn't be the direction we go.

I'm sitting out this flailing session.  I'll give it an offseason and the 2021 season.  I retain the right to freak out over everything starting in 2022.

Oh I agree. But that didn't stop us from running a 4-3 in the past. But with Urban's fondness of 3-4 defense and the Ravens scheme, I'd be shocked if they didn't switch it up. Which I'm excited about. [BLEEP] man, I'm just excited to have a DC who seems like he'll actually do SOMETHING different.

On paper a switch to 3-4 looks good. Our current edge rushers came from that scheme in college and are way more adept to playing a 3-4. The problems come in the fact that the Ravens blitzed a lot. In order to do this you need to have a strong secondary and that is by far, the weakest area on the team. We need 2 new starting Safeties, a starting CB opposite Henderson and a new Nickel corner. We have a lot to do to make this a success and we must focus on the secondary in free agency.

As far as the D-Line, I would like to see us re-sign Duane Smoot in lieu of the scheme change. He would be a solid 5 Technique alongside Doug Costin with DaVon Hamilton at NT. Allen and Chaisson would serve as OLB's and Jack and (unfortunately) Schobert would be in the middle. I would like to add another solid OLB type just in case of injury to one of our starters. We're pretty thin at this area other than Allen and Chaisson. I look for us to have a totally different looking defense with a lot of new names next season.

Bevell is a good choice. I'm happy with it.

I love this hire.

Feel like Bevell has been held back by Patricia and Carroll being so run heavy.

When Bevell took control with the Lions, Stafford did much better. Really like this hire the most so far.

And look at those rosters he had during those bad years in Minnesota. Absolutely abysmal offensive talent.

When he has players to use, his offenses are good.
