Tony Boselli, Jimmy Smith nominees for HOF

#1

Personally I think this is the year Boselli makes it as a finalist.

No he won't. He can't even get nominated.

Not sure if he is eligible yet.

Edit: only have to wait 5 years after retiring. He has been eligible for consideration for a year or two

He retired on 2011. I believe he'll be eligible next year.

It has been less than five years since he retired?

Taken from NFL.com:

"Players and coaches must have last played or coached at least five full seasons ago to be eligible for nomination. Therefore, any individual who last played or coached in 2011 is eligible for the first time in 2017"

I doubt any past Jags get in. Teams weren't successful and didn't leave lasting mark on nfl. Tony was great but too short a career. Jimmy was great but too many other wide receivers were goid at the same time. Tayor wasn't even listed. If they had made the SB in 99 then that would have been the moment needed to land HoFers.

We need to look to the future. Need playoff runs and championship appearances

Tony was the best LT I have ever seen and I live in Cincinnati, where I watched Anthony Munoz play when I was a kid. Tony deserves to be in the HOF, but unfortunately, injuries cut his career short and it seems like voters really hold this against him. I doubt he ever gets in. Jimmy deserves to be in as well, but he's a long shot as well.

Amazingly,  Anthony Munoz is the only player who was with the Bengals for most of his playing career to be voted into the Pro Football HOF.   The Bengals first season was in 1968,  not exactly yesterday.

It might take the Senior Committee to lead the way in eventually getting into the HOF but I think he has a pretty good chance to eventually get in.   It took well over 50 years for G Dick Stanfel,  who had a similar length career as Boselli to finally get into the HOF but he got in this year.    Both were differential Offensive Lineman.
