From what I've seen we have better players in MJJ and LS10 already and I expect a draft pick and Agnew to be in the rotation too. I mean, look at Jones's numbers, he's about as good on average as our recent Tight Ends.

Isn't it possible he was a good player buried on the touches list behind other guys like stud TE Darren Waller, Hunter Renfrow and Josh Jacobs?

Yes, it's possible. But that's his second team in 6 years and he's had basically 1 season's worth of stats in that time.

Yes, it's possible. But that's his second team in 6 years and he's had basically 1 season's worth of stats in that time.

He was only on the field for 27% (inflated due to two weeks where he had 89% and 70%) of the snaps in 2020 and only 56% of the snaps in 2021. He was only averaging around 20% of the snaps in 2021 before Henry Ruggs decided to do some dumb [BLEEP] mid season. That's when Zay took over his role and started getting more snaps. It's not like the dude has been out there logging 80+% of the snaps every season and putting up those numbers.

His rookie year (2017) he had Tyrod Taylor and Nathan Peterman as his QB. In 2018 he had rookie Josh Allen and a mix of Nathan Peterman, Derek Anderson and Matt Barkley as his QBs. He got traded to the Raiders week 6 of 2019. His best season stat wise was in 2018 when he logged the most snaps during the course of a season at 89% of the Offensive snaps.

Realistically it'd be closer to 2 good seasons worth of stats in that time if you really wanted to go there. 170 catches, 1900 yards and 11 TD would be one hell of a single season.

Ok, 2 seasons then. He's still an average Jaguars tight end that we paid a [BLEEP] ton of money for.

Wide Receiver you mean and $8m per isn't really a [BLEEP] ton of money in this day and age of the salary cap.

He's already the best blocking WR we have and he'll play Special Teams as well. Added value.
